The San Francisco Giants have designated Aaron Rowand and Miguel Tejada for assignment. These moves have been long over due as both players were given plenty of opportunity to prove their worth to the club. The Giants roster is littered with guys who are batting in the .230’s and even lower. Rowand is making $12 million in 2011 and is due to make the same in 2012. Tejada signed a 1 yr $6.5 million contract in the off season. Pat Burrell has been reinstated from his rehab assignment and the Giants have purchased the contract of Brett Pill to fill out the 25 man roster.
Tough to see Rowand let go but it is the right move for the Giants to move forward
Rowand signed a 5 year $60 million contract after the 2007 season. He is a former gold glover and is known as an exceptional clubhouse presence.
