The Giants have reportedly offered Guillermo Mota a minor-league contract. Mota was largely average for the Giants in 2010, posting a 4.33 ERA with a 3.7 BB/9 and a 6.3 K/9...His ERA+ of 94 would indicate that he was just a tick below average, which was well worth the $750K he received last year. He's getting up there in terms of age -- 37 -- but he's still serviceable as a reliever, and he's quite durable, appearing in at least 50 games in each of the last eight seasons. I'm not incredibly excited about this deal -- Mota's not far from complete mediocrity; however, minor-league contracts are incredibly low-risk, and Mota is probably going to once again be a serviceable bullpen arm who can eat up innings here and there.
