San Francisco Giants
Los Angeles Dodgers
Ryan Vogelsong thinks his teammates will get a little angry - not shell shocked - from getting swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
''We can't afford to think too much about this one,'' Vogelsong said after the San Francisco Giants lost 4-0 to the Dodgers on Sunday and fell into a virtual first-place tie in the NL West. ''If anything, it makes us a little mad and we can take it out on the Mets, the next team coming in.''
Clayton Kershaw pitched a five-hitter for his second shutout of the season, continuing his dominance over the Giants, who he has beaten seven times, including five in San Francisco.
''That's what happens when you face one of the best pitchers in the game right now,'' Vogelsong said. ''One mistake, one run, can cost you the game.''
The Dodgers (56-47) closed within one percentage point of the Giants (55-46) after returning the favor from being blanked in a three-game series at San Francisco from...

It sounds greedy, but the Dodgers aren't done yet. After filling a need a third base with Hanley Ramirez and left-handed relief pitcher with Randy Choate, the Dodgers still have a couple more needs.
General Manager Ned Colletti wants to acquire a starting pitcher and another position player.

Well, this weekend sucked.
I don’t think the Giants need a big overhaul, or even a single big trade. They just need the players they have to step up. Everyone other than Brandon Belt was terrible this weekend, and even Belt wasn’t spectacular.

• Overall offensive ability. They have a .697 OPS, 11th in the NL.
There is less than 24 hours remaining until the trade deadline. The Giants have made one trade thus far (Mark Scutaro), but they have been linked to a handful of influential players from around the league.
The most reoccurring rumor swirling around is outfielder Hunter Pence of the Philidelphia Phillies. John Heyman of CBS mentioned the Giants and Phillies are talking about a...
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Hanley Ramirez lost his bat during a half-swing at a third strike as he struck out during a second inning at-bat of Monday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ramirez apparently was so surprised that he actually held the pose for a second before walking back to the dugout.

Marco Scutaro arrived at the Giants' clubhouse two hours before gametime Saturday and was immediately put in the lineup at third base and batting seventh.
The NL West leaders also activated Aubrey Huff from the disabled list before the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
To make room on the roster, San Francisco put infielder Pablo Sandoval on the 15-day disabled list with...
Twitter was abuzz last night with speculation that the San Francisco Giants had a deal in place to trade for Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence. The story first broke from a twitter account owned by a producer for a local TV station, but was later rebuked by CSN Bay Area insider Andrew Baggarly.
The story has once again heated up this afternoon, as CBSsports insider Jon...
The last time Chad Billingsley won a game at AT&T Park, he struck out two and didnt allow a run. That was in 2007.
On Saturday, Billingsley took the ball for manager Don Mattingly, struck out two, and kept the Giants scoreless in 7.1 innings of shutout ball in the Dodgers' 10-0 win over the Giants on Saturday afternoon.
Billingsley is now 2-0 since returning from the disabled...
