No, no, perhaps that title doesn’t quite describe the story, Bochy didn’t physically pick up a knife or some sharp object and assault his son because the potatoes were cold or anything, he simply broke the news to his son Brett, who pitches for the team, that he’s being released by the Giants, along with 20 other players, writes John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
But he gave him the special treatment, preferring to tell him over dinner rather than calling him into the office as he did with the others.
“He was disappointed I didn’t bring him in to cut him,” said Bruce Bochy, the manager. “I may do it tomorrow just to make him feel better.”
To be honest, the younger Bochy didn’t have a chance of sticking around away, so it wasn’t really much of a surprise.
Per the Chronicle:
Brett Bochy, 25, surrendered two runs in 2 2/3 innings over three appearances. Last year at Double-A Richmond, he was 6-3 with a 2.53 ERA and 14 saves. He appears destined for Triple-A Fresno.
