Coming off a series victory against the powerful Washington Nationals the Giants are set to begin another three game set this time within the division against the Rockies. Colorado took the last three of a four game series from the Giants just a week ago at Coors Field. During those three games the Giants pitching yielded 25 runs and made everyone wonder if the humidifier was still being used at Coors. With the Rockies spraying the ball all over the yard seemingly at will, compounded with the dreadful defensive display the Giants put on, they definitely hit a low point during that series. Not to mention their offense was shut out the last game at Coors Field. You can bet the Giants will be much more focused this time around at home. It will also be important for the Giants to get off to a quick start Friday night and that begins with starter Tim Lincecum. Lincecum obviously hasn’t returned to the Cy Young form that he once possessed, but has been effective somewhat this season. Th...

Postgame Wrap: Lincecum Bad, Giants Worse

These days, it’s almost more confusing when Tim Lincecum succeeds than when he screws up. If there’s one thing we’ve learned by watching Barry Zito’s ascent to mediocrity these past couple of years it’s that when Zito’s breaking pitches are working, even a lineup of the best and brightest can’t catch up to an 84 mph. If Zito can establish the ridiculous curveball and...

Pagan hits walkoff inside the park home run

On Saturday, Angel Pagan of the Giants hit perhaps the greatest walkoff of the season. With San Francisco trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the tenth following a Troy Tulowitzki homer in the top of the inning, Brandon Crawford led off with a walk against Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt. Quillermo Quiroz bunted Crawford over to second to bring up Pagan, who hit a deep fly ball off the...

Down on the Farm: Michael Kickham

“You always set high goals. That’s one thing I certainly do. I’m not getting ahead of myself by any means, but sure, it is something that you think about and dream about.” That was Michael Kickham‘s response during the 2012 NLCS when asked if he had mentally projected himself experiencing playoff baseball in the big leagues in 2013 or 2014. Given Ryan Vogelsong‘s injury...

Angel Pagan hits walkoff inside-the-park home run (Video)

A walkoff home run is not unusual in major league baseball. A walkoff inside-the-park home run, however, is extremely rare. However, San Francisco Giants center fielder Angel Pagan was able to pull off Saturday night. With one on and one out in the bottom of the tenth, down 5-4 at home to the Colorado Rockies, Pagan hit a fly ball to deep right center at AT&T Park that he...

Bochy ejected from game in the 8th

Giants manager Bruce Bochy was ejected in the eighth inning of Saturday's game against the Rockies by home plate umpire Alfonso Marquez over a call made at third base. Marco Scutaro appeared to have evaded Nolan Arenado's tag on a throw from the outfield, but Marquez ruled the tag had been made. Third base coach Tim Flannery began to argue before Bochy came out to take over...

Lincecum Fails to Deliver While Giants Silenced

The San Francisco Giants were awfully quiet this Friday night against one of their division rivals, the Colorado Rockies, dropping game one of the weekend series 5-0. Tim Lincecum once again struggled early which seems to be his biggest problem over the past couple of seasons. Lincecum surrendered two quick runs in the first inning on a two out double off the bat of Michael Cuddyer...

Giants Angel Pagan hits a Walk-off Inside the Park Home run (Video)

Well this definitely not something you see everyday. In the bottom of the 1oth inning of Saturday’s game between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies, with the defending champions trailing by a run and a man on second base, center fielder Angel Pagan, clobbered a 0-1 pitch to the deepest part of AT&T Park, to draw his team level and then decided to end the game...

Angel Pagan with the rare “run off” home run

Angel Pagan slides into a jumping gang of San Francisco Giants. The San Francisco Giants came back against the Colorado Rockies by scoring 2 runs in the  bottom of the 10th against Rafael Betancourt.  Scoring 2 runs for a come back win isn’t that rare.  Hitting a 2 run home run to walk off is a but rarer.  But hitting a 2 run inside the parl home run to walk off.  You don’t...

Marco Scutaro on Contact

“I’m probably leading the league in bad contact, too.” — Marco Scutaro We talked for a few minutes, Marco Scutaro and I, about hitting and contact before a game a few weeks back. When I told him he’s leading the league in contact rate since 2010, he offered the response above with a slight frown and a flick of the bat. He swung a bat the whole time we talked, even. But...

Angel Pagan hits walk-off inside-the-park home run (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Straight hustlin’. Needless to say, that’s Pagan’s first career inside-the-park walk-off. He has three career inside-the-parkers and two career walk-off home runs. [vid via MLB.com]

Giants 6, Rockies 5(10)

Angel Pagan hit an inside-the-park homer with a runner aboard in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the San Francisco Giants a 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Troy Tulowitzki led off the 10th with his 10th home run to put the Rockies ahead 5-4. Colorado closer Rafael Betancourt (1-2) walked Brandon Crawford to open the bottom half. Guillermo Quiroz sacrificed...

Watch: Angel Pagan Ends The Game With A Walk Off Inside The Park Home Run

courtesy of Jeff Chiu, AP With both the Giants and the Rockies just a half game out of first place in the NL West, every game is a must win early in the year.  These two teams are so evenly match that today’s game went into extra innings before Rockies’ star, Troy Tulowitzki tried to end things in the top of the 10th inning when he smacked a solo shot for his 10th home...

Video: SF Giants defeat Colorado Rockies on walkoff inside-the-park HR by Angel Pagan

Tweet   The San Francisco Giants came into Saturday’s matchup against the Colorado Rockies with just three wins in their previous ten games and were in need of a spark to help propel themselves back to the winning ways those at AT&T Park have become accustomed to. In the bottom of the tenth inning Giants [...]

Rockies-Giants Preview

After putting their recent struggles against the San Francisco Giants to rest last week at home, the Colorado Rockies have their sights set on accomplishing the same goal at AT&T Park. Colorado will try to end a nine-game losing streak in San Francisco as the clubs open up a three-game set Friday night. The Rockies, who have lost 19 of 23 at AT&T Park, had dropped 10 in...
