Washington Nationals starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez isn't used to running around the bases, and it showed Saturday when he advanced to third base from second on a groundout and slid horribly into the bag.
Kids, don't try this at home.
Gonzalez slid feet first and ended up on his stomach as he slid over the bag. The important thing was that Gonzalez was safe and didn't hurt himself, and was able to get a real good laugh out of it afterwards.

Jayson Werth's monster truck...
Remember when Jayson Werth smashed up his Monster Truck with his own home run ball this spring -- the same truck he was apparently driving when he got in a minor fender bender with Roger Bernadina at Space Coast Stadium earlier in the spring? Well, looks like his truck is fixed, but judging from the video below (via AllStarsPlus), Werth's driving misadventures continue: he...
Werth: Phillies fans yelled 'You deserve it!' after injury
For the second time in a week, fans from Philadelphia have been accused of cheering for an opponent’s injury. We know Sixers fans cheered when Joakim Noah went down during a game last Friday because we could hear it on the broadcast. According to Jayson Werth, Phillies fans pulled the same classless move on Sunday night when he broke his wrist at Nationals Park.
“After walking...

Nationals' Werth has broken wrist, will be out "awhile"
Washington Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth has a broken left wrist, reports Nationals beat writer Amanda Comak. He's expected to miss a significant amount of time.
Werth's injury comes at an awful time for the Nationals, who just called up Bryce Harper to fill their gaping hole in left field, caused by the injury to Michael Morse this spring. With Morse still out...

Werth missed the entire...
See You In August, Jayson Werth
The news on Jayson Werth’s broken wrist gets worse. According to Bill Ladson, he will be out “at least 12 weeks” after undergoing surgery on Monday. This puts his return at the beginning of August. So yeah, pretty awful news there. Werth’s been the team’s second best hitter with an .810 OPS this season.
But on the bright side, Zimmerman and LaRoche are both set to return...
Report: Jayson Werth to have surgery, miss 10-12 weeks
It looked ugly right away, and Jayson Werth's reaction told the story well enough. The Nationals confirmed last night that their star right fielder suffered a broken wrist while trying to snag a ball in the outfield last night against the Phillies. His slide looked like it would result in a nice catch but Werth's wrist got caught and twisted in a bad way, forcing the outfielder...
Werth Vows Revenge!
Vows revenge!

Werth was in right field for the Washington Nationals as they hosted his former team, the Philadelphia Phillies. Nationals-Pirates Preview
The Washington Nationals were all set to welcome back their star third baseman after a 13-game hiatus, hopefully getting a jolt to their inconsistent offense.
Now with another key piece of their lineup going down, Ryan Zimmerman's return has become all the more necessary.
Zimmerman is expected to play two days after Jayson Werth suffered a broken wrist when Washington visits...
After intentionally plunking Harper, Hamels leads Phils past Nats
WASHINGTON -- After losing seven times in a row to the Washington Nationals, including the first two games of the weekend series, the Phillies knew they'd have to show some fight Sunday night against a team that is battling to take over Philadelphia's former role as the team to beat in the National League East. From the first inning, when Cole Hamels hit Nationals left...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Washington Nationals – Game 29
When people say that the Pirates can’t spend money, or that they aren’t just one player away I chuckle a bit. Those same arguments could have been made about the Nationals. The difference is that while the Nats drafted well, they ALSO spent money on the big league club. Can you really succeed without doing [...]
