It was the bottom of the fourth inning in a week that had already been a rough one because of a bevy of injuries when Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez sprinted around first base in San Francisco and felt his hamstring tighten up on his left leg. Gomez left Milwaukee's game Friday night in San Francisco and was replaced by Norichika Aoki, who moved to left, while Nyjer Morgan shifted to center field. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said after the game that it was indeed his hamstring that caused him to leave on Friday night. "He was sprinting around the first base bag and felt his hamstring," Roenicke said. "We'll wait and see how he is tomorrow, then make a decision on what we need to do." Roenicke was mostly vague about Gomez's injury, but he did hint at the fact that it might be more than just a one-day problem. "It looks like it's more than a day, but I don't think it's real bad." Gomez didn't look like he was in too much pain before he came out, but he spoke with Roenicke in the dugout and headed for the clubhouse in the top of the fifth inning. The injury bug has struck the Brewers hard in the past two weeks, as first baseman Mat Gamel and starting pitcher Chris Narveson are now out for the season, Ryan Braun was held out of Friday's game with a sore Achilles, and Gomez seemed to be injured against the Giants. And for a team that started with too many starter-quality outfielders, another injury has the Brewers looking awfully thin on offense. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter.
