Fox Sports Wisconsin:
Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Alex Gonzalez left Friday's game against St. Louis after being hit on his left hand by a pitch.
X-rays on Gonzalez's hand were negative, and the Brewers announced he left the game with a left hand contusion. Gonzalez was hit by a 92-mph fastball from Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller in the second inning but stayed in the game before coming out before the bottom of the third inning.
Though the injury very easily could have been a lot worse, Gonzalez is now added to the long list of Brewers who are hurting. With Aramis Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list, Gonzalez was filling in at third base after starting the season filling in at first base for the injured Corey Hart.
The veteran is hitting .138 with one home run and four RBI this season.
On Friday, first baseman Yuniesky Betancourt shifted over to third base, and Blake Lalli entered the game at first base.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Jeff Bianchi will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Huntsville on Saturday as he recovers from a left hip injury.
Bianchi, 26, has been on the 15-day disabled list since March 27 with left hip bursitis. The condition limited Bianchi to just eight spring training games and caused him to drop off of Italy's roster for the World Baseball Classic...
MILWAUKEE -- Adjusting to the pitching at the big league level is a tremendous challenge when a player is getting four at-bats a day.
Now imagine how difficult it is for a young player to come up and get an at-bat pinch hitting here and maybe another one two days later. Just like anything in life, there's a better chance of success with continuous repetition.
Kyle Lohse did all he could to make his return to St. Louis a success. Sharp, efficient and locked in, Lohse allowed just two runs in seven strong innings.
But Milwaukee's offense could manage just two hits, and the Brewers were shut down by Cardinals rookie right-hander Shelby Miller in a 2-0 loss at Busch Stadium, falling to 2-7 on the season.
Lohse - who got a standing ovation...
Kyle Lohse had no complaints about his first start in St. Louis since changing teams. Going on six days' rest and off a very short spring, he kept his team in the game.
''The main thing I wanted was to get through this one,'' Lohse said after working seven efficient innings in a 2-0 loss to rookie Shelby Miller and the Cardinals on Friday night. ''I got...
At least in previous losses there was somewhere to point the finger. Either the starting pitching wasn't good enough, the bullpen coughed up the lead or the offense just couldn't score runs.
Saturday afternoon all that has ailed the Milwaukee Brewers combined into a 8-0 loss at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals, dropping the Brewers to 2-8, their worst record through...
Kyle Lohse has cut the cord from his Cardinals days, spending a final night in his empty St. Louis home that's been sold before starting against his old team.
By last August, even though he was having a career year, he knew St. Louis had no interest in re-signing him.
Lohse waited until the final week of spring training to get a free-agent deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, festering...
(AP) -- An unscheduled day off was just what the Milwaukee Brewers needed. It also set up an unexpected return to St. Louis for newcomer Kyle Lohse.
The Brewers right-hander faces his former Cardinals teammates for the first time Friday night as these NL Central rivals open a three-game series.
With Wednesday's road game against the Chicago Cubs postponed due to inclement weather...
ST. LOUIS (AP) Kyle Lohse has cut ties from his Cardinals days, spending a final night in his empty St. Louis home that's been sold before starting against his old team.
By last August, even though he was having a career year, he knew St. Louis had no interest in re-signing him. The Cardinals signed ace Adam Wainwright to a multiyear extension this spring.

Rookie Shelby Miller allowed one hit in seven innings, a single by Norichika Aoki to open the game, and the St. Louis Cardinals had just enough to spoil Kyle Lohse's first start as a visitor since 2007 in a 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.
