One of the possible perks for Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux about the managerial job with the Chicago Cubs was the possible opportunity to work with his brother Greg.
As it turns out, it will happen even though the Cubs hired somebody else.
A source confirmed that future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux will join the Rangers in spring training to help with pitchers, although his exact role has yet to be determined.
Mike Maddux interviewed for the opening in Chicago, but the job went to Dale Sveum. Mike Maddux now is preparing for his fourth year as pitching coach for the Rangers.
Greg Maddux has spent the past two years with the Cubs as a special assistant.
Greg Maddux won four Cy Young awards and finished his career in 2008 with 355 victories and a 3.16 ERA.
