Guardians News: Kyle Manzardo Putting Together Professional At Bats

There are plenty of reasons to get excited about Cleveland Guardians ' second-ranked prospect Kyle Manzardo.

He has plenty of power, can hit for contact, and is overall a dangerous hitter when in the box. However, manager Stephen Vogt has been most impressed with Manzardo for his mentality and plate approach.

"I think it's just the consistency of hit at-bats," said Vogt. "Whether he starts and gets three (plate appearances) or subs in and gets one, he puts together a professional at-bat every time. For someone that young, with that limited playing time last year, just speaks to his calmness at the plate."

Manzardo has appeared in eight games and received 13 at-bats so far in spring training. In those appearances, he has a slash line of .462/.563/.615 with an OPS of 1.178. Time and time again, Manzardo is showing the Guardians that he's exactly the type of player they need to have in their lineup.

The offense is clearly there, but Vogt made sure to mention that Manzardo is more than just another hitter. He has the tools to be an all-around great baseball player.

"He's a really good hitter with power. He's played really well at first base, his base running has been good. I've been really impressed with Kyle's camp."

Manzardo will play a key role with the Guardians at some point this season. There is still an unknown on when this time will come on Opening Day or a few months into the year.

Either way, Vogt is impressed with his physical skillset and mentality towards the game.
