Organizational catcher Guillermo Quiroz has been added to the Seattle Mariners active roster, according to Larry Stone.  Quiroz has previously appeared at the big league level with the Mariners in 2006 and 2009 between stints with the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers.  You may recall that Quiroz was a top prospect for the Toronto Blue Jays in the mid-2000s before stagnating at AAA.  He’s hit .297/.347/.440 between AA West Tenn and AAA Tacoma this season.

This isn’t quite the exciting, make-this-team-watchable move we’ve been waiting for.  Quiroz also eats up one of the open 40-man roster spots, meaning only one non-roster player can be added before additional maneuvering is required.  However, there are a number of players that could be moved to the 60-day DL in order to make room if needed, namely Jack Wilson, Shawn Kelley and Milton Bradley.

Not the guy on the right.
