Photo By Michael BaronFor the second time in less then a month were hearing that a Scott Hairston decision is imminent. Supposedly Hairston was choosing between the Mets and Yanks with a decision any day but when the Yanks lost interest he decided to wait the market out. Now reports are that Hairston is once again close, is this a ploy to see if he can get that two year 8M contract or is he really ready to sign. There are reports that the Mets have balked at giving Hairston two years, now there are reports that the Cubs are interested in him...#mets balked at scott hairston's $8M/2-yr request. #yankees not involved. Saw hairston saturday and he seemed upbeat tho. source Jon Heyman

Cubs Make Late Pitch For Hairston, Mets Balked At $8 Million, Two Years

Updated on Jan. 15 by Joe D. Some interesting tidbits from Jon Heyman tonight regarding our boy Scott Hairston… Heyman tweeted that the Mets balked when Hairston asked them for $8 million over two years. That must have turned Sandy ten different shades of purple. It’s a significant raise for Hairston who has never made more than $2.45 million in his career, but not totally unreasonable eithe...

Scott Hairston Expected To Make Decision This Week

Updated on Jan. 15 According to sportscaster Jim Bowden of ESPN XM, free agent outfielder Scott Hairston is expected to make a decision this week. This is becoming one of the most prolonged announcements of the offseason as we heard the same news about two weeks ago, but whatever. If Hairston does re-sign with the Mets, their outfield which was going to be significantly upgraded...

Cubs GM Says Matt Garza and Scott Baker on Track

Jesse Rogers of ESPN-Chicago reports that Theo Epstein, Chicago Cubs GM, spoke optimistically about two of his projected starting pitchers for 2013, Matt Garza and Scott Baker. "Both guys should be ready to start the year," Epstein said Wednesday. Baker, 31, was acquired via free agency on November 13.  The righty starter has spent his entire career with...

MMO Fair or Foul: The Hair Of The Dog That Bit The Mets

I totally loved digging into the first half of this reaction post by Bill Price of the Daily News, after learning that the Mets balked at Scott Hairston’s two year contract demand. Just who the heck does Scott Hairston think he is? According to reports, he has the nerve of asking the Mets for a 2-year, $8 million contract? If my math is right, that’s $4 million a year. Who...

Mets remain interested in Hairston, thank goodness for the NFL playoffs

For many of us, the start of the NFL Playoffs has provided a nice distraction to the lack of recent offseason activity the Metsecutives have undertaken. Once that’s over, then what? Back to baseball…… yikes! In the meantime, at least we can enjoy some Free NFL Playoff Picks and try to stay positive. When football is over, it’s back to worrying about what kind of team the...

Sammy Sosa Is CEO Of Company That Distributes Needle-Free Injection System

I had to jump on this story as soon as I saw it.  I can only imagine the looks on people’s faces when they read this.  Via a tweet from Crossing Broad, and doing some research of my own on the company’s website, former Chicago Cubs slugger, and ambassador of baseball’s steroid error, Sammy Sosa is the CEO and investor of a company that distributes needle-free injection systems...

Cubs Mad Libs, brought to you by Yahoo!

The last time we did Mad Libs was kind of fun but way too involved.  That’s probably because Rick Telander uses way too many words to say not very much at all.  Anyway, today we have a somewhat accurate yet snarky article from Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports as he took a look at the Cubs in 2013.  Amazingly, the Cubs were not ranked lower than #21 out of the 30 MLB clubs.  We...

When it comes to Wilson and Hairston, apparently Sandy’s not impressed

First Mckayla Maroney at the Summer Olympics, then Tommy Lee Jones at the Golden Globes, and now Sandy Alderson of the New York Mets is proving that he is a tough person to please.  One may even go as far as to say that when it comes to players like Brian Wilson and Scott Hairston, well, Sandy’s not impressed.  Mike Puma of the New York Post wrote in his article this morning...
