SEATTLE (AP) -- A day after getting no-hit by the Mariners, the Los Angeles Dodgers rebounded to beat Seattle 8-3 Saturday as Jerry Hairston Jr. had a career-best five RBIs and Clayton Kershaw struck out a season-high 12.
Hairston had three of the Dodgers' 14 hits, putting Los Angeles ahead with a three-run homer in the first against Jason Vargas (7-5). He added RBI doubles in the third off Vargas and in the eighth against Lucas Luetge.
After missing 16 games with a left hamstring strain, Hairston is hitting .426 with five doubles and 11 RBIs since he was activated from the disabled list on May 25.
Kershaw (5-3), the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, allowed three runs and four hits in seven innings and struck out the side in the first.
Vargas gave up five runs and nine hits in six innings. A day earlier, six pitchers combined to no-hit Los Angeles.

There are a few questions about the Dodgers that will be of interest for readers of this blog (for one, Trayvon considers the Dodgers more strict as an organization...

Jesus Montero isn't behind the plate all that often for the Seattle Mariners. He's still learning the catcher position as he goes, so he spends a lot of nights as the designated hitter. But to a man, the pitchers who combined to throw just the second six-pitcher no-hitter in baseball history Friday credited Montero for the job he did in guiding the Mariners to a 1-0 win...
Well, that's one way to do it. The Seattle Mariners used a record six pitchers Friday night to combine for a no-hitter. Starter Kevin Millwood was on track for a no-no, having logged six innings with six strikeouts and one walk, but he felt a twinge in his groin when warming up for the seventh. He was pulled, and Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and...
Seattle Mariners right hander Kevin Millwood's ability to make his next start won't be known until at least Tuesday. Millwood came out of Friday's start with a slight right groin strain, and an MRI indicates no real damage. But the
Mariners won't make a decision on whether or not to have him start on Thursday until Tuesday; he could be pushed back to the weekend...
Being a Dodger fan and blogger living in Seattle, I catch a fair amount of Mariners games at Safeco Field. I know what kind of a pitcher’s park it is, especially on a cool evening like last night. But there was no way anyone could expect what happened to actually take place.
37 year-old Kevin Millwood was throwing smoke, with complete command of his fastball through six innings...
Kevin Millwood kept the Los Angeles Dodgers hitless through the first six innings on Friday, but when a groin injury during warm ups prevented him from returning to the game five additional Seattle pitchers came out of the bullpen to finish the job and complete one of the most unusual no hitters in baseball history. It was a pitchers duel between Millwood and Dodgers starter...
Kevin Millwood and five Seattle relievers combined on a no-hitter, the third in franchise history, and the Mariners beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 on Friday night.
The no-hitter was the fourth in the majors this season, joining gems pitched by the Angels' Jered Weaver, the Mets' Johan Santana and White Sox right-hander Philip Humber, who threw a perfect game at Seattle...
