Final: Nationals 5, Phillies 2.

WP: Jordan Zimmermann (3-4, 2.47)

LP: Roy Halladay (4-4, 3.58)

SV: Tyler Clippard (1)

Hector Luna provided an early advantage for the Phillies in the 2nd inning with a RBI ground-rule double over the center field fence. The bats went silent afterwards, however, as the offense only was able to produce one more run during the remainder of the game.

Going into tonight, Roy Halladay had won 11 straight games against the Nationals franchise. It was the second-longest active streak by a single pitcher versus a team, only bested by Jon Lester against the Baltimore Orioles (14-0).

Catcher Carlos Ruiz was ejected by homeplate umpire Gary Cederstrom in the top of the 3rd for arguing balls and strikes. He was replaced by Brian Schneider, who was a member of the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals franchise from 2000 to 2007.

Erik Kratz hit his first major league home run (44 career ABs) tonight in the 8th inning against former Cub lefty, Tom Gorzelanny. [Video]

Halladay clearly did not have his stuff tonight.  The last time he allowed four or more earned runs through just three innings pitched was on June 15, 2010 against the New York Yankees.

Attendance: 45,569 (227th consecutive regular-season sellout).
