The August 14th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including former teammate defends Pujols, Hanson's demotion another Dipoto failure and much more... The Story: Former teammate Skip Schumaker defends Albert Pujols against the recent steroid use allegations. The Monkey Says: Oh, well, if Skip Schumaker says it, it must be true. Now if we can just get Aaron Rodgers to wager his fortune on Pujols' clean record, we'll be set. The Story: Demoting Tommy Hanson is just the latest failure for the Angels. The Monkey Says: It is a failure, but I don't think it is part of the dysfunction. Dipoto took a risk on Hanson and, like all the other risks he took this winter, it came out snake eyes. I still like the idea of the trade even if Walden has been very good and Hanson has been very bad. When you are desperate for impact starting pitching you have to take that kind of gamble and dealing a reliever for a starter is almost never a bad idea. The Story: Will any manager get fired this year? The Monkey Says: I can't imagine Scioscia not getting fired this off-season, but I also think Moreno has too much respect for him to fire him before the season is done. The Story: The legacy of Eddie Bane. The Monkey Says: The power struggle between Reagins and Bane might've been more detrimental to the organization than any move Reagins made. It wasn't even so much that losing Bane hurt, which it did, but rather the piss poor job that Reagins did in replacing him and changing the farm philosophy. By the time Reagins was let go the farm had fallen into such disrepair that Dipoto himself will probably be fired before he has ever had enough time to fix it. The Story: Erick Aybar left last night's game with a cramp. The Monkey Says: He should be fine for today but the Angels will still probably think it is OK to carry a three-man be The Story: Grant Green is working on his defensive footwork and should shift to third base when Howie Kendrick returns from the DL. The Monkey Says: At least the team has a plan to keep him in the lineup and isn't going to bury him. I haven't seen enough of him to say whether or not he is good enough to stay at second, but that is where he would have the most value long-term. The Story: The Battle of Los Angeles featuring disdain of Josh Hamilton. The Monkey Says: So say we all. [follow]
