The March 20th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Madson positive despite setback, Halos played without a home plate umpire and much more... The Story: Ryan Madson is feeling good and remaining positive after suffering a setback after his bullpen session on Thursday. The Monkey Says: I covered this yesterday, but even though the setback is minor, this is pretty frustrating. Madson says he feels better again, but there is no timetable for him to get back to throwing bullpen sessions which makes it a virtual certainty that he won't be back until some time in May. The Story: The Angels and Brewers temporarily had to play yesterday's game without a home plate umpire. The Monkey Says: The umpire returned after a brief absence after getting hit by a pitch, but it made for a comical scene in which strikes were being called by an umpire standing behind the pitcher like it was a coach-pitch Little League game. The Story: Wally Joyner is a perfect example of a rookie sensation avoiding a sophomore slump. The Monkey Says: Yeah, but Joyner's rookie season wasn't historically amazing. Like I've said about Trout before, there is no real historical comparison that can be made for what he did at the age he did it at. The Story: Mike Trout ranks as the best left fielder in the AL West. The Monkey Says: Damn, I had Chris Carter in the office pool. I don't know what I was thinking. The Story: Albert Pujols is apparently also suffering from plantar fasciaitis but it didn't prevent him from making his debut in the field yesterday. The Monkey Says: I'm so glad that his body isn't breaking down on him with nine years left on his contract. The Story: Devin O'Barr strikes again claiming Mark Trumbo "has shown the ability to play all three outfield spots, third base and first base." The Monkey Says: O'Barr strikes again! I hate to pick on the kid, but he really seems to only screw up and find his way into my RSS feed on slow news days. But seriously, do some research. Trumbo was an EPIC disaster at third base and has never played center. I mean, can you imagine what a train wreck Trumbo would be in center? He can barely hand the corner outfield. Ugh. [follow]
