The August 24th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including Pujols day-to-day with a calf injury, Wilson offers no excuses for his struggles, Angels rank 4th in ESPN's MLB Future Power Rankings and much more...

The Story: Albert Pujols is day-to-day after his MRI only revealed calf inflammation.

The Monkey Says: He'll hopefully be back in the lineup some time this series, but probably at DH for a few games.  Bullet dodged.

The Story: C.J. Wilson offers no excuses for his poor pitching of late.

The Monkey Says: This was written before he melted down again last night.  Suffice it to say he did not "take the hammer to the ant."

The Story: Mike Trout is ruining rookie season standards for everyone.

The Monkey Says: And I am enjoying every single minute of it.

The Story: The Angels were fourth in ESPN's Future Power Rankings.

The Monkey Says: That is nice and all but I am more concerned that they are also in fourth place for the final AL Wild Card standings.

The Story: Uni Watch rates the Angels as having the 36th best uniform in pro sports.

The Monkey Says: I have no qualms about that ranking.  The uniforms are sharp and clean, but not flashy.

The Story: Peter Bourjos claims his wrist has been a problem since back in Spring Training.

The Monkey Says: That would certainly explain his struggles at the plate, well, that and his sporadic playing time.  However, hold on, let me put on my fake doctor's coat, I have a hard time believing a few days of rest is going to make everything all better.

The Story: Jerry Dipoto calls questions about Mike Scioscia's job security a "distraction."

The Monkey Says: JeDi never outright guarantees that Scioscia will be back, but the fact that he, a man once described as the real Chris Traeger, got "perturbed" by the line of questioning certainly seems to indicate that he is not considering firing Scioscia at any point.  Nor should he, in my opinion.

The Story: One issue that might be causing Zack Greinke problems is that his catchers in Milwaukee were much better at framing than Chris Iannetta.

The Monkey Says: Everyone make sure Scioscia never sees this.  It is all the evidence he needs to force a trade to re-acquire Jeff Mathis.

The Story: Steven Geltz talks about getting called up and making his MLB debut.

The Monkey Says: In which, a professional ballplayer in his early twenties uses the phrase "Holy cow!"
