Jason Hammel's balky right knee finally gave out Friday. In fact, it popped. Hammel left after throwing three pitches in the fourth inning -- his shortest outing of the season --
after hopping out of his landing and favoring his leg. After battling discomfort in the knee all winter, Hammel was scheduled to undergo an MRI Saturday
afternoon. Manager Buck Showalter said following Friday's 7-2 loss to Detroit that there was no swelling in
the knee, which he said was a good sign. Hammell struck out five and allowed a pair of singles in his three-plus innings of work. Hammell struck
out two and allowed one run in each inning. Losing Hammel would throw a serious question mark into the Orioles rotation. The club is already short
