Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Corey Hart, who missed eight games with ruptured plantar fascia in the arch of his left foot, is in Thursday's lineup for the team's final game of its series with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The two-time All-Star's absence hasn't seemed to hurt the Brewers' offense much, as the team is 7-1 since he injured his foot rounding second base against St. Louis. Hart's status has been very much in question given the nature of the injury, even forcing manager Ron Roenicke to question whether the slugger would be available the rest of the season. Plantar fascia injuries can be nagging and very painful. Hart was eager to get back in the lineup last week but had a setback Sunday when he tried to run the bases. The injury makes it very difficult to run in anything other than a straight line. But it seems Thursday and possibly going forward Hart will try to play through the pain. That could be very good news for the Brewers, as Hart is bat...

Brewers operating like a well-oiled machine

MILWAUKEE Like clockwork it started. Just as it seemed the well-oiled machine would finally slow down from the maniacal pace it had been running at since the end of August; just as those who had started to believe began to lose the faith and move closer to the cliff, the cogs began to move as if they had been waiting for just the right moment. In calculated, efficient steps,...

Brewers' pitchers look primed for big things

For 26 straight innings, the Milwaukee Brewers' pitching staff hadn't allowed a single run. It was a magnificent feat for a pitching staff that struggled at times with its starters and struggled even more times this season with its bullpen. But for 26 innings, the Brewers had been practically unhittable. It took until the ninth inning of Wednesday night's game against...

Middle of order huge during Brewers' surge

MILWAUKEE Heading into the 2012 season, Brewers fans were overtly concerned about what would come from their cleanup spot. Soured by losing Prince Fielder, Milwaukee replaced him with Aramis Ramirez a third baseman who has always been solid but never quite delivered eye-popping numbers. It was a move that made some yearn for Fielder again. But Ramirez has proven time and time...

Brewers have endured lots of twists and turns

MILWAUKEE Imagine for one moment that it's July 26 the trade deadline closing in and you're standing next to Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin. He's on the phone with Anaheim general manager Jerry DiPoto discussing a potential trade that will send Brewers ace Zack Greinke to the Angels for three prospects, including shortstop Jean Segura. He hangs up...

Brewers rally to beat Pirates

Rickie Weeks hit a tying two-run triple and scored the go-ahead run on Aramis Ramirez's single, helping the surging Milwaukee Brewers rally for a 9-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. The Brewers have won five straight, eight of nine and 15 of 19 to climb into the playoff race. They remained 2 1/2 games back of St. Louis for the second NL wild-card slot. Milwaukee...

Who invited the Brewers to this party?

Very stealthily, the Milwaukee Brewers have thrust themselves into NL contention, and like some St. Louis Cardinals teams in years past, don’t seem to be stopping. Two key events happened today, first in afternoon action, the Cardinals gave up 2 runs in the 9th, curiously not using their usual closer Jason Motte (after 5 straight outings), then fell to the lowly Cubs in 11. Then...

Bryce Harper throws out Ryan Braun at plate

Your browser does not support iframes. The play occurred during Washington's home contest at Nationals Park against the surging Milwaukee Brewers...

Estrada, Brewers seek continued success

James McDonald's struggles cost him a spot in the Pittsburgh Pirates rotation. Their collective issues may be costing them a trip to the postseason, and the Milwaukee Brewers are surely thrilled to take advantage of that. In replacing McDonald, the rapidly fading Pirates are scheduled to give rookie Kyle McPherson his first career start in an effort to avoid a six-game slide...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers – Game 148

It’s so easy to write that the Pirates lost to the Brewers.  It’s natural.  Second nature at this point.  It’s not surprising, it’s barely even frustrating.  It’s accepted.  Accepted by the fans for sure, and seemingly accepted by the players.  How else could you explain this drought against the Brewers? First Pitch:  7:05 PM EST Where [...]

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers – Game 149

At one point in time these were fun.  I bet you enjoyed them more too.  Now the Pirates sit at .500, something that seemed impossible a few weeks ago. It’s sad really.  What did we do to deserve this? First Pitch:  4:05 PM EST Where To Watch: Root Sports, MLB.TV, FSWI Mike Fiers, RHP (27) [...]
