Terry Collins just told reporters that Matt Harvey will make his next scheduled start on Thursday against the Cardinals. Go ahead and plan accordingly for Harvey Day… In the eighth inning of last night’s 20-inning 2-1 loss to the Marlins, Harvey was removed from his start with tightness in his lower back. He was cruising before being pulled and held the Marlins to just one earned run in seven innings while striking out six. After singling in the bottom of the seventh, Harvey looked uncomfortable as he walking slowly to the dugout after an inning-ending groundout. When he came out to warm up for the eighth, it was clear something was wrong and within a minute trainer Ray Ramirez, manager Terry Collins and the entire Mets infield converged on the mound. Another minute later and the Mets’ prized righthander reluctantly handed the ball to his manager and headed for the clubhouse to get checked out.
