The box score shows how Ed Lucas' 10th-inning solo homer off Cesar Jimenez helped the Marlins sidestep a three-game sweep at Citizens Bank Park Wednesday. What it doesn't detail is who was mainly responsible for putting him in position to hit the difference-making blast in the 4-3 win The Marlins made two of their better defensive plays of the season. Who authored them should come as no surprise. Even the Phillies' faithful at Citizens Bank Park applauded in acknowledgement of Adeiny Hechavarria. Hechavarria's glovework coupled with Steve Cishek's escape act following a Lucas error to start the bottom of the inning helped snap the Phillies' seven-game winning streak over the Malrins. With one out in the sixth Cody Asche laced an A.J. Ramos pitch that looked earmarked for left field. Hechavarria leapt high to spear the ball. What made it more visually stunning was that Hechavarria after he caught the ball brought his knees up toward his chest and his momentum spun him so he landed with his back to the mound. Hechavarria had a great reaction. After the play the camera caught him staring up at the replay on the video board. He gave a quick self-approving nod before turning his attention back toward the hitter.
