Today I wanted to look at the power numbers for all of the hitters in my Top 40 list who had at least 200 plate appearances in the 2012 season. In the chart below I have listed the Isolated Power to each field, sorted from highest total to lowest total. On the right side of the chart is the home field park factors for where each guy played (adjusted for playing time at each level...
ESPN fantasy baseball guru Eric Karabell recently took the time to tab 10 prospects he believes will pay dividends for owners this season. One of those players includes Reds top prospect Billy Hamilton at No. 4.
Although Karabell suggests to keep expectations in check on these upcoming rookies, he still believes they could have big fantasy baseball implications.
Here is what...
The Cincinnati Reds Caravan came to Indiana over the weekend, with stops both Friday and Saturday. Friday featured Jay Bruce, while Saturday featured Homer Bailey. The RHM crew decided that driving all over the state and standing in line for hours was a fun pastime and headed to both Bloomington to see Bruce and Indianapolis to see Bailey.
The event was well-attended, with the line...
Hamilton was called a "potential superstar" by Mayo
MLB.com's Jonathon Mayo has been putting in work, analzyzing the top prospects in baseball and recently has run his series on the Top 10 Prospects at each position. Several Reds have shown up on these lists in the past including Devin Mesoraco and Aroldis Chapman. Add a few more names to the list as the Reds boast...
After getting Jay Bruce’s autograph the previous night in Bloomington, the RHM crew was up bright and early to head to the Indianapolis stop at Castleton Mall. This time, our target was Homer Bailey, who had replaced Bruce as the major league player for the day.
The Castleton line was super long. When we arrived, the autograph line was already moving. The Reds had apparently showed...
Are you bummed that you don't have tickets for Opening Day? Well, cheer up. The Reds are offering you a chance to score some. Here are the details...
CINCINNATI (January 29, 2013) — In a continuing effort to make Opening Day tickets available to as many fans as possible, the Reds have announced the annual online ticket opportunity for the April 1 game vs. the Los Angeles...
There was a time when folks around the Queen City were really excited about the potential careers of both Drew Stubbs and Edinson Volquez. Each experienced flashes of brilliance during their time in Cincinnati, but both find themselves on different ball clubs entering 2013.
Volquez will be entering his second year with the San Diego Padres, while Stubbs will be joining...
Todd Frazier‘s professional baseball career has been slowly building to this moment. Throughout both the minors and his first semi-full time season with the Reds, Frazier’s power numbers have steadily improved, and Scott Rolen‘s departure has officially given Frazier Cincinnati’s starting job at third base.
Frazier has always struck out at a decent clip (around 22%) but he...
Every year, Keith Law puts together a list of the top 25 Major League players under 25. Aroldis Chapman was on this year's list. Law's article inspired his colleage David Schoenfield to put together a list of the All-time top 25 players under 25. This is basically a list of what the ESPN.com writer feels are the best 25 seasons any player ever had while under 25 years...
The Cincinnati Reds organization features some high-ceiling talent at the top of the Top 15 list but the depth in the organization is lacking. There are some impact arms at the top but the up-the-middle offensive players are somewhat lacking, other than Billy Hamilton.
#1 Billy Hamilton (SS)
I went ahead and created a page on facebook for the website. If you want to follow along through facebook, click here and follow along. While we are at it, you can also follow along on twitter or you can subscribe to the videos on youtube.
John Sickels at MinorLeagueBall.com posted his farm system rankings yesterday afternoon. He ranked the Reds 15th overall and had this to say about...
Jonathan Mayo released the MLB.com Top 100 Prospect List. Before getting into the list, I want to talk about how the list is compiled. This is from another article that breaks down some of the previously linked Top 100 list.
With those requirements in mind, each scout was asked to anonymously provide his own top 50. An AP poll-type format was used. If, say, a scout put Profar in...
