PHOENIX -- Bauer Mania comes to Chase Field on Tuesday -- and it's here to stay.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson confirmed Monday that rookie right-hander Trevor Bauer is expected to be part of the team's rotation for the rest of the season shortly after Bauer expressed excitement about making his home debut Tuesday night against the Padres.
"I'm not too anxious," Bauer said, meeting the Phoenix media for the first time as a major leaguer. "I just try to take it day by day and take everything as it is and as it comes. It will definitely be fun, and I'm looking forward to it."
Bauer made his major league debut last Thursday amid considerable buzz about his arrival. Between a high pitch count and mild groin strain, Bauer lasted just four innings and got a no-decision, allowing two runs on five hits.
Though Bauer, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 draft, said he wasn't nervous making the start in Atlanta, he did concede that the circumstances were a bit foreign.
