According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the New York Mets have signed former Milwaukee Brewers start Shaun Marcum to a 1-year contract, pending a physical. #bbpBox_294437006975574016 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_294437006975574016 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } Marcum’s deal with #mets is for 1 year. pending physical. 32 minutes ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman #bbpBox_294433848077451264 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_294433848077451264 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } Confirmed: Free-agent RHP Shaun Marcum to #Mets, pending physical. First reported by @JonHeymanCBS. 45 minutes ago via Tweetbot for MacReplyRetweetFavorite @Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal The Mets had been linked to Marcum along with Chris Young, Joe Saunders, and Brandon Webb but seemed only interested in shelling out minor league deals.  While the details of Marcum’s signing are not official, I’d have to guess this is a major league contract and I’m happy the Mets were able to pull it off.   While the 31-year-old has battled injuries throughout his career, he has posted a 3.62 ERA and 1.18 WHIP during the last three seasons (85 starts).  Last season Marcum went 7-4 with the Brewers with a 3.70 ERA. This likely means the end of the Chris Young in a Mets uniform as Marcum is likely to round out a rotation consisting of Johan Santana, Matt Harvey, Jonathon Niese and Dillon Gee.  It may also be a sign that the club is ready to take on a little more in the way of salary and major league commitments as they search for free agents to help fill the glaring holes that exist for the upcoming season. #bbpBox_294433681660071936 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_294433681660071936 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } Marcum will be nice add for #mets rotation.
