A Hooters employee who served as a Philadelphia Phillies ballgirl was nearly run over by New York Yankees infielder Ronnier Mustelier when she tried to duck for cover on a foul popup, instead of getting out of the way, during Tuesday's spring training game in Clearwater, Florida. The Hooters ballgirl wouldn't get out of her chair, despite the ball coming dangerously close to landing right on her head. Not to mention Mustelier and two other Yankee fielders chasing the ball at full speed while running in her direction, which could have resulted in a dangerous collision. Fortunately there was no interference and no injuries in this incident, and it is spring training for everyone involved. However, the arrangement that allows Hooters employees to be ballgirls at Phillies spring training games is looking more precarious by the day. Just was over a week ago, another Hooters ballgirl mistakenly scooped up a fair ball and gave it to a fan. If this arrangement is to continue in the future, the Phillies need to do a better job in making sure the Hooters ballgirls understand the rules. Darin Ruf must rebound for Phillies

One of the most talked about names for the Philadelphia Phillies is young outfielder Darin Ruf. The Phillies prospect had a breakout season in 2012 which ended with the young slugger on the major league roster in September. Fans were optimistic that Ruf could be the right handed power bat that the Phillies so desperately need, but a slow start to Spring Training 2013 has raised some...

Phillies Spring: As The Tummy Turns…

The 2013 Phillies Spring Training is turning in a soap opera of sorts. Strange things are afoot. A recent “trade” report may be the strangest of them all. Maybe having Hooters gals serve as ball girls isn’t such a good idea after all… (videos)

It probably seemed like a genius move in its inception to the Phillies: Instead of having kids — both young men and young women — who might have a decent chance of fielding a ball hit their way man the positions down the foul lines, why not plop some Hooters gals at those spots and see what happens? Of course, the eye candy aspect of having Hooters gals serve as ball girls cannot...
