Lot of news coming from the Winter Meetings in Nashville. Here are the topics that are catching our eye:
Center Field: Looking to Trade?
Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly is reporting that the Phillies have maintained their interest in Dexter Fowler and Peter Bourjos as trade targets. With the departure of Torii Hunter, Bourjos is now projected to be a starting outfielder for the Angels.
… or maybe a signing? Not Pagan.
Scratch Pagan off the list. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Giants are close to re-signing Angel Pagan. Rosenthal was reporting that the Giants and Phillies continue to vie for Angel Pagan. Rosenthal believed both clubs see Cody Ross as a possible fall-back option even though Ross and Pagan have different skill sets.
Of note, according to Jon Heyman, Shane Victorino is being pursued by at least seven teams and has several multi-year offers on the table, including some three-year offers and one four-year offer.
Salisbury confirmed in his reporting ...

Roy Halladay was the first gem to be sought by the Philadelphia Phillies after the 2008 championship. Will Rube Amaro again reel in valuable catches?

My articles are designed to represent a baseball-man’s thinking, the view from the dugout and the GM’s box. Most fans do not consider the budget, prospects on the radar, the stick-glove...
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard married longtime girlfriend Krystle Campbell in Hawaii on Saturday and the newlyweds celebrated by taking part in a relatively new fad over the past few years called, “Trash the Dress.” Trashing the dress consist of getting back together with your photographer after your [Photos..]
How many times can you talk or read about it? If the Philadelphia Phillies reported to Spring Training today, they would have no third baseman, a hole in the bullpen, and not one player that has shown that they can play any of the three outfield positions for a full season and give the team the offensive production they need. To date, Ruben Amaro Jr has done nothing to address these...
We have a new, crazy rumor in relation to Justin Upton. The Phillies and Diamondbacks are reportedly discussing a swap that would send Upton to the Phillies for oft-traded starting pitcher Cliff Lee (and likely, a giant pile of cash as well). The prevailing logic is that the Diamondbacks would then move Lee to another team in exchange for the shortstop they desire. Other sources...
And just when you leave the house to go walk your dog, Ruben Amaro Jr. strikes! It's been a quiet few days in Phillies land, but the hot stove is finally blazing. ESPN's Pedro Gomez is reporting the Phillies and Diamondbacks are discussing a trade which would send Pitcher Cliff...
I'd love to start this with some cutesy little opener about the Winter Meetings, but I just don't have it in me.This past weekend, Philadelphia Phillies star Ryan Howard tied the knot with his former Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader lady friend in Hawaii and to cap off the celebration, took part in what only can be described as a bizarre "ritual".You see, after posing...
Update, 4:59 pm: D’Backs beat reporter Nick Piecoro chimed in just after the initial wave and reports that the trade talks are “off base.”
According to a tweet Pedro Gomez of ESPN, the Phillies and Diamondbacks are discussing a Justin Upton for Cliff Lee swap. However, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports writes Arizona is not actively seeking this deal...
I recently said I didn't want us to continue to pursue Angel Pagan at the price he was commanding. I really don't want us to. Pagan's above average, but above average is a bad four year bet. Rosenthal is reporting Pagan and the Giants are close to a deal. I...
COMING TO AMERICA
The Chicago Cubs have made a move in free agency, reportedly signing a Japanese relief pitcher. How will he transition to MLB?
The Chicago Cubs have signed Japanese free agent pitcher Kyuji Fujikawa to a two-year, $9.5 million contract, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and the MLB Network reported on Saturday, but the Cubs remained quiet on the subject on Sunday. According to the report, Fujikawa would receive a signing bonus of $1 million, plus $4 million in 2013 and 2014. There also was a vesting option...

The Texas Rangers have been the most aggressive team in
pursuit of free agent slugger Josh Hamilton, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
