Following Tuesday night’s desert shootout, the Astros announced that they have purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Henry Sosa, as per Astros radio play-by-play man Brett Dolan’s Twitter.
Sosa will make the start for Houston on Wednesday night in the third instalment of its 4-game set in Arizona.
Before the series, Brett Myers was listed as the probable Wednesday starter, with Thursday’s pitcher ‘to be announced’.
It was widely anticipated that Aneury Rodriguez would fill the void in the rotation created as a result of J.A. Happ’s Triple-A demotion.
Instead it will be Sosa, acquired from San Francisco in July’s Jeff Keppinger trade. Myers will start on Thursday.
Sosa has compiled a 10-3 record pitching for 4 different teams this season (between the Giants & Astros organizations).
Another rookie joins the club. Let’s see what ya got, kid!
