The Brewers have somewhere around a million questions surrounding their team and what they will do with it this offseason, and somewhere in the middle of all of them is Casey McGehee. After being a key contributor in 2009 and 2010, the third baseman fell off a (very high) cliff last year, to the tune of a .228/.280/.346 line for a guy who had an .800 OPS or better in each of the last two seasons. One of the many important decisions the club has to make is what to do with McGehee, who could hit his way into the soon-to-be vacant cleanup slot if he returns to form, and could hit his way out of the major leagues if he… doesn’t. (Also, with McGehee projected to earn $3.1 million in arbitration according to MLB Trade Rumors, the Brewers might not have the luxury to just sit back and see which one shows up.) Winter Meetings Aren't "Fielder or Bust"

Many fans are looking at this offseason as a 'Prince Fielder or Bust' type campaign. But as Jack Zduriencik and the Mariners front office has shown, there are other ways to acquire talent and improve the ball club. Brewer manager discusses future of team

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke spoke to reporters earlier today to answer questions about the winter meetings and the future of the team. He made it clear that if the Brewers are unable to sign Prince Fielder, it is crucial they find a fourth hitter. Adding an additional power-hitter is ideal but if Doug Melvin is unable to sign someone of that caliber, Roenicke said second...

NL Central Rumors: Soriano, Cardinals, Brewers

The latest on several NL Central teams... The Cubs are getting a bit of interest in left fielder Alfonso Soriano, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.  Soriano, 35, is owed $54MM through 2014 and has a full no-trade clause.  I think the Cubs would have to eat over $40MM to move Soriano. World Series revenue is not a game-changer for the Cardinals, owner Bill DeWitt Jr. told Derrick...

Brewers' GM To Meet With Reyes' Agents

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin will meet with the agents for Jose Reyes this coming week at the Winter Meetings, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman (via Twitter). Reyes' main suitor this offseason has been the suddenly free-spending Marlins, who have a reported offer of six years and perhaps as much as $90MM on the table to lure Reyes to Miami. Recently, it's been...

Brewers lose out on LA-bound Hairston

The Brewers only had one offer on the table as the Winter Meetings began Monday, and it was spurned. Jerry Hairston Jr., Milwaukee's starting third baseman in the postseason and the team's primary target so far in free agency, agreed instead to a two-year deal with the Dodgers.
