The Indians look to get Travis Hafner back next week.  If you are keeping track of the schedule, you will realize that it will be just in time for the Indians to leave him on the bench as a pinch hitter as they visit National League teams in San Francisco, Arizona and Cincinnati.  That is not good news for an Indians team that is having trouble producing runs.  I don’t think anyone would have guessed Travis Hafner would mean quite as much to this lineup as it seems that he does.  The numbers are pretty blatant. Travis Hafner was put on the DL May 17th.  In the 39 games including May 17th when the Indians scored seven runs on the Kansas City Royals, the Indians offense scored 5.3 runs per game.  In the ten games prior to Hafner going on the DL the average was 5.6 runs per game.  During those 39 games Travis Hafner had 11 games with more than one hit.  There might not be 100% correlation to the downslide since Hafner has been hurt, but the numbers are pretty scary.
