The Red Sox got their asses handed to them in Oakland to kick off the month of September of 2012. The Sox were outscored 33-5 in the series with a 20-2 loss to kick off the series. Much like the recent recaps of series from 2012, we don't want to be reminded of any more details.
Laser Show: Mike Napoli
Mike is an RBI machine. He is 3rd in the majors with 20 RBI, and even with the low .267 average, Napoli is going to up that average number while driving in some more runs. Want some stats to back that up? How about a .400 and .375 batting average against Anderson and Colon, respectively. Throw in a .900 SLG% coming out to a 1.471 OPS against Brett Anderson, and we a bit more backup for a potential big series for Mike Napoli.
Pitch Around: All the former Sox players
Here is why:
Coco Crisp: Leading the team in homers with 5, batting .328, and leads the team with 6 steals.
Jed Lowrie: Second on the team with a .382 BA, and tied for the team lead in RBI with 14.
Brandon Moss: Tied with Lowrie in RBI with 14.
Josh Reddick: Only batting .113 with a homer and 8 RBI, but the potential for damage is there.
Don't Fall Behind: A.J. Griffin
Clearly the best of the 3 Oakland starters going in the series. Though, Bartolo Colon is pitching pretty well for a senior citizen. So, watch out for Colon as well.
How we see it goin' down
Coming off of a disappointing Sunday, the Sox are looking to come up with another winning streak as we all try to normal around the city. The Sox have the pitching advantage in game 3, though the A's have the upper hand in the first two matchups. David Ortiz has started his season hot, but it may not be enough if Colon and Griffin continue their hot starts. I am going to have to the series to Oakland with the Sox salvaging the final game.

AROUND THE WEB
A number of athletes have used their equipment to pay their respects to the victims of this past week’s tragic events. On Sunday, Jonny Gomes will use his bat to pay homage. Will Middlebrooks tweeted a photo prior to the first game of the Red Sox’ doubleheader against the Royals. It’s supposedly of the lumber that Gomes will use. The bat features the names of the four people...

The first two-and-a-half weeks of the season have been a struggle for Red Sox prospect Xander Bogaerts. Last year, the shortstop excelled in the Eastern League and earned his place as one of baseball’s elite prospects. But his return to Double-A Portland has been underwhelming thus far. Against New Britain, Bogaerts went 0-for-6 with a strikeout, a walk and a groundball double...
Boston Red Sox right-handed starting pitcher John Lackey is
aiming to rejoin the team on April 27, according to Michael Silverman of The
Lackey is slated to make a minor league rehab start today
for the Red Sox Double-A affiliate. The veteran is expected to throw four
innings or roughly 65 pitches.
If all goes well, this could be the only rehab...
The Boston Red Sox have called up right-hander Allen Webster to pitch in the second game of a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals.
Webster is scheduled for his major league debut Sunday night in the rescheduled game of Friday night's postponement because of the manhunt for a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.
At Triple-A Pawtucket, Webster had a 0.90 ERA and no...
Clay Buchholz was strong for eight innings but it was Daniel Nava who played hero on Saturday afternoon. It was his three-run homer in the 8th inning that helped the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.

A first pitch temperature of 42 degrees coupled with a lengthy rain delay and lackluster performance made for a long night at Fenway on Tuesday.
The Red Sox decided to reward fans who attended Tuesday night’s game against Oakland with free admission to Wednesday’s 4 o’clock matinee against the Athletics or Thursday night’s game against Houston. All fans have to do is show...

The Boston Red Sox had quite the emotional week this past week, but continued to play red hot baseball. The team has won 5 out of 6 games and are playing their second game of the double header against Kansas City as I write this. The team has been lead by excellent pitching. This coming week the Red Sox will play every game at Fenway, continuing a 10 game home stand. Here is the...
And we may not stop there, he could be in the running for saddest man to have ever lived.
According to Reddick's tweet last night, he met Lil Hogan here at Hogan's Beach, which is a Hulk Hogan-themed bar/restaurant in the Tampa area. Reddick and the Athletics are in town this weekend for a series with the Rays.
Back to our friend here, though. Here are our options:
Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick had a beard-growing contest with WWE superstar Daniel Bryan. By year’s end, fans would vote on the better beard, and whoever “lost” would have to shave their facial hair off. It appears that Reddick has already accepted defeat at the expense of some old fashioned superstition.
Reddick came to the ballpark on Saturday with a haircut...
After an emotional win yesterday afternoon, the Boston Red Sox will take on the Kansas City Royals in the first game of a day/night doubleheader at historic Fenway Park today.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. If you live in the Red Sox television market you can catch the game on NESN. If you live in the Royals television market, you can catch the game on Fox Sports Kansas...
BOSTON (AP) Lorenzo Cain walked with two outs and the bases loaded in the 10th inning to give Kansas City a 5-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday and complete the Royals' sweep of a day-night doubleheader.
Ervin Santana (2-1) pitched seven strong innings in the opener, when Kansas City won 4-2. Kelvin Herrera (2-2) got the win in the night game, a makeup of the one postponed...
Coming off a frustrating weekend that saw that Red Sox drop two out of three from the Kansas City Royals, the Sox look to rebound with an upcoming three game series with the Oakland Athletics beginning on Monday night. Boston struggled last season vs. the Athletics by going only 1-8 against them, which included the Red Sox dropping two out of three at Fenway Park last April 30...
This offseason the Red Sox went back to basics in terms of reemphasizing patience at the plate. While probably pharmaceutically aided, the Red Sox bats were undone by a wily veteran who pounded the strike zone.
Luckily most pitchers can't command their fastball like Bartolo Colon can in this second act of his career. Any pitcher with even average command of his fastball should...
