Hunter Gaddis To Start For Guardians On Monday Against White Sox

The starting pitching rotation continues to be a challenge for the Cleveland Guardians. Triston McKenzie and Aaron Civale are still rehabbing their injuries, Zach Plesac has underperformed at the Big League level and is currently at Triple-A, and now Peyton Battenfield is on the injured list as well.

Cleveland needs a starter for their Monday evening game against the Chicago White Sox, and they've identified who that's going to be. Hunter Gaddis will reportedly be recalled from Triple-A to make the start.

There were a few candidates that could have been the start including Plesac and Gavin Williams, but the organization chose to go a different direction with this just being a spot start.

Gaddis made the team out of Spring Training after a fantastic month of March. However, he really struggled against Big League talent. He made four starts for the Guardians posting an ERA of 7.64 and WHIP of 1.58.

The righty was then optioned back down to Columbus after the emergence of Tanner Bibee and Logan Allen who have cemented themselves into the rotation. He's made four starts with the Clippers since being sent back down and has an ERA of 5.12 and 24 strikeouts in 19.1 innings of work.

Gaddis still has something to prove in the Majors and this is the perfect time to make the most of his opportunities.
