Found July 09, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
Hunter Pence hilariously ran over Phillies third base coach Juan Samuel while trying to score from second on a double by Juan Pierre during Saturday’s game against the Braves. Pence didn’t loop out before rounding the bag like players are taught, and he was so wide of the base line that he ended up running into Samuel and bowling the coach over. Samuel stood with his hat knocked off and hands on his waist after the unexpected trucking, and he genuinely seemed to be ticked off with Pence. Pence meanwhile found the entire episode hilarious and tried hiding his laughter in the dugout. Maybe Samuel needs to start throwing on some catcher’s gear before heading out to the third base coaching box.

The latest edition of PN TV looks at the Cole Hamels trade possibilities and the likelihood he stays in Philadelphia. Some good quotes from a one-on-one with CSNPhilly that we discuss. Phillies Have Traded Centerfielder Shane Victorino to...the Cleveland Spiders?

Photo: Philliedelphia/Steve Trapani In the end it sounds like a good old fashioned benching by the manager.  The underperforming Shane Victorino and subject of many trade rumors this season was pulled from the Phillies starting lineup within an hour of game time with no explanation, prompted many to speculate that he had been traded.  Some speculate it stemmed from Victorino being...

Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino appears to be on his way out of Philadelphia, according to a report by Jon Heyman this afternoon. Dylan Hernandez is disagreeing, according to his latest tweet. Hernandez says the Dodgers are still looking for a corner infielder, starting pitching, and a left-handed reliever.  Heyman adds that people familiar with the situation have suggested...

Cole Hamels Could See Himself a ‘Phillie Forever’

Cole Hamels of the Philadelphia Phillies. Photo Courtesy of Renee Cendrowski. Phillies Jonathan Papelbon and Jimmy Rollins to Ruben Amaro: Don't Trade Hamels

Photo: Philliedelphia/Kevin Durso It's not uncommon that you hear of other players speaking about their teammates after being traded. What is uncommon is hearing other players speaking about their teammates before being traded. According to Todd Zolecki, a few players who spoke to reporters yesterday mentioned the recent rumors of their teammate Cole Hamels being potentially...

Carlos Ruiz Uses Special Glove to Handle Dickey's Balls

Carlos Ruiz was selected to be the one to handle the catching duties for knuckleballer R.A. Dickey during the 2012 All-Star game.  But to do so, Dickey brought along his own catchers' mitt for Ruiz to catch (pitctured above). Knuckleballs are highly unpredicable.  So much so that Tony LaRussa did not think that Buster Posey of the Giants could handle it.  But Chooch could...

Dugout Digest - diminishing stars

The Braves beat the Phillies 6-3 last night (and I was there, which is why this DD is coming so late), but it wasn't the result that was surprising...it was the Phillies set of struggles since their two stars have returned. Ryan Howard came back to the team on Friday, and despite not playing yesterday, the Phillies are 0-2 with him on the active roster. Chase Utley was activated...
