Kimbrel earns TSN top NL rookie honors

Braves closer Craig Kimbrel, who set a rookie record with 46 saves, has been named the 2011 Sporting News National League Rookie of the Year.

Craig Kimbrel and Mark Trumbo were recognized for standout seasons Wednesday, when The Sporting News named them the Rookies of the Year in their respective leagues. The voting was conducted by 289 big league players who returned a verdict on their elite peers.

Teams And Pairings Set For Friday's Home Run Derby

Hunter Morris will take the first swings and Tim Hudson the last as the teams and pairings have been set for Friday night's annual Celebrity Home Run Derby at Plainsman Park. Gates and concession stands for the event open at 5:30pm and the eight participants will take batting practice at 6pm along with a 2012 team autograph session on the Tiger Terrace.
