Cleveland first baseman Casey Kotchman did not play Sunday because of tightness in his lower back. Kotchman did not participate in morning drills and was scratched from playing in either of the Indians' split-squad games on the road against the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers. The first baseman was signed to a one-year contract as a free agent last month. He hit .306 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs to help the Tampa Bay Rays into the playoffs a year ago. In four games this spring, Kotchman has hit .231.
