Casey Kotchman singled with the bases-loaded in the 10th inning, giving the Cleveland Indians a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Pinch-hitter Shin-Soo Choo doubled off the wall in left-center to start the inning against reliever Anthony Swarzak (3-5). Choo took third on Jason Kipnis' groundout before Carlos Santana and Michael Brantley were intentionally walked to load the bases. Kotchman fouled off the first pitch before bouncing a ground ball up the middle against the drawn-in infield for his third hit of the game. Esmil Rogers (3-1) pitched a perfect inning for the win. Both teams used five pitchers. The Indians, who are 12-39 since July 26, moved into a fourth-place tie with the Twins in the AL Central. Minnesota won 12 of the 18 games between the clubs this season. Joe Mauer was hitless with a walk in four at-bats, dropping his average to .321. Neither starter was involved in the decision. Kotchmania Runs Wild One More Time At Progressive Field

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Casey Kotchman is an All-Star caliber player. I’m also not going to tell you that First Base is a position where offense doesn’t matter. But I will tell you that I have an appreciation for the guy that most others don’t. Yesterday afternoon’s series finally with the Minnesota Twins was won by a Kotchman bases loaded RBI single...

Travis Hafner Returns, but are the Indians Better Off?

At 7:33pm EST on Wednesday night, Cleveland Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner took his first pitch since August 5, a curve ball that crossed right through the middle of the plate. Approximately two minutes later, he took a 90-mile-per-hour fastball off of his left elbow, proceeded to remove his at-bat armor and then slowly trot down the first base, barely-buttoned jersey and...

Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera returned to the lineup Friday night and had two of the Indians' 10 hits in their 6-3 loss to Kansas City. Cabrera missed Thursday's game due to a sprained right wrist. Overall it has been another quiet second half of the season for Cabrera, which is becoming a pattern for him. Cabrera has made the American League All-Star team in each of the...
