Found September 04, 2012 on Cleveland Sports 360:
Corey Kluber started his 7th game in the  Major Leagues, He never had a win for the Indians until he beat the Detroit Tigers. Kluber looked as though he wouldn’t make it out of the first inning when he faced Detroit. All of a sudden he found his groove and was able to tame the Tigers of all teams. The Indians have had their way with Detroit this season, Kluber helped that continue. The Tribe has lost more games in the second half than any tim in the teams history, yet they can beat a team like the Detroit Tigers who came into the game in a tie for first place in the A.L. Central. The Indians would also see Vinnie Pestano get his second save of the season. Pestano came in to close out the game giving the Indians the 3-2 win over the Detroit power hitting line-up. Pestano had to close due to Chris Perez being out on paternity leave. Lest hope the Indians can continue to win in Detroit. Congratulations to the Indians pitcher Corey Kluber. Lets hope this guy can continue to win games, w...

Indians' Kluber earns first major league win

Not much has gone right for the Cleveland Indians in the second half of the season. Most of the hitters have been in slumps, and most of the pitchers have struggled. However, one pitcher who is making the most of a bad situation is rookie right-hander Corey Kluber. Kluber pitched six solid innings Monday against a very good Detroit Tigers lineup to help lead the Indians to a rare...

Garcia impresses in Tigers debut

DETROIT -- All in all, Avisail Garcia's first game in the major leagues was as good as he could have imagined. In his first at-bat, against Chicago White Sox starter Francisco Liriano Saturday night, Garcia fought off pitch after pitch before earning a 10-pitch walk. "I saw the ball good," Garcia said. "He's a good pitcher, but I saw the ball good every pitch...

Game 2012.136: Indians at Tigers

Detroit Tigers, 72-63, 2nd place, 1 back, WC not gonna happen. Well, that’s baseball.  And you’ve got to tip your hat to Cy Masterson. Etc. Etc. See what happens when you don’t have a plan? Hopefully Kevin will use the day off tomorrow to devise something good. Or maybe we should all use the time to work on our lineup submissions. For his part, Jim Leyland had an explanation...

Will Tigers turn sweep into momentum?

DETROIT Justin Verlander and the Tigers swept the Chicago White Sox out of Comerica Park with an emphatic 4-2 victory Sunday night on national TV, giving them a tie for the Central Division lead. But how much does it really mean at this point? "We feel like we made this statement last time, and obviously we didnt continue to play great," Verlander said. "I think...

Tigers looking into Elvis Andrus for 2013?

Despite what happens for the Tigers the rest of the season, general manager Dave Dombrowski will probably decline the club option on shortstop Jhonny Peralta and look to upgrade the position. The importance of the position too could be an area that Dombrowski makes a huge splash with considering his track record in previous offseasons with the team. The question though is who could...

Tigers Proving That Winning Divisions Only Easy on Paper

It wasn’t supposed to go down like this. As August turns to September in this sometimes God forsaken 2012 baseball season, this isn’t whatTigers fans had in mind for Labor Day weekend. The worries were supposed to be the usual for this time of the year: getting the kids back to school; figuring out what to throw on the grill as the outdoor cooking season winds down; wondering...

"I'm not frustrated," Leyland said. "I'm not going to change. We've been the same all year. We come here ready to do our job and do our best." Don...

Chris Perez Compares Indians’ and Tigers’ Ownership, Blasts Decision-Making

In an interview with FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi, Cleveland Indians All-Star closer Chris Perez was asked to discuss the difference between his team and the Detroit Tigers. He obliged, and rather handsomely. “Different owners,” said Perez.  “It comes down to that. They (the Tigers) are spending money. He (Ilitch) wants to win. Even when the economy was down (in Detroit), he...

Leyland: There's been no letdown after White Sox series

Manager Jim Leyland disagrees with the notion that his Detroit Tigers are having a letdown after sweeping the Chicago White Sox. After gaining a tie for first in the AL Central during the weekend, Detroit fell back when it lost Monday while Chicago was beating the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers lost a second consecutive one-run game to the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night, falling...
