In a post to Twitter, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com says the Indians are expected to decline OF Grady Sizemore’s option for 2012.
The 29 year old Sizemore just concluded a six year, $23.45 million contract he signed with the Indians in March, 2006. The Indians hold an $8.5 million option for 2012 with a $500,000 buyout. He’s played in just 210 games since 2009 and has hit just .234 with 28 home runs and 109 RBI over that span. He had micro-fracture surgery on his left knee in 2010 which required him to miss half of the 2010 and 2011 season, and recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on that same knee, but is expected to be ready for Spring Training.
