Pro Sports Daily:
The Indians had a scheduled off day Monday, their second in five days. The break allowed Cleveland to use a four-man rotation during that period, and it was telling which pitcher was skipped. The choice was Ubaldo Jimenez, who at the start of the season was considered to be the No. 1-A starter behind Opening Day starter Justin Masterson. Team officials believed that Masterson and Jimenez were both potential aces. That hasn't been the case with either pitcher, but especially Jimenez, whose performance in the first two months of the season was exasperating. In 10 starts, Jimenez is 5-4 with a 5.79 ERA. He is averaging nearly seven walks per nine innings and he leads the American League in walks (42) and wild pitches (seven). In his past four starts, Jimenez has a 8.85 ERA, lasting just four and 4 1/3 innings in two of those outings. So when the Indians had a chance to go with four starting pitchers over the weekend, it was a very easy decision on the odd man out. Jimenez w...

Having loaded up on pitchers and outfielders with their first five selections, the Cleveland Indians turned to infielder Joseph Wendle out of West Chester University.
At 5-feet-11-inches and 190 pounds, Wendle was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association first-team All-American for the 2012 Division II national champions. He bats left-handed, throws right-handed...
There was nothing to suggest the Indians were going to get the performance they received from Ubaldo Jimenez on Tuesday night. Cleveland was happy to see it however, as Jimenez pitched into the seventh inning, allowing one run as the Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2 at Comerica Park. Jimenez, who has been a disappointment this season, came into the game facing one of his least...
A day after drafting OF Tyler Naquin from Texas A&M with their first round pick, The Indians have gone for a pitcher. In the second round, #79 overall, the Tribe has selected Right-handed starter Mitchell Brown from Rochester, Minnesota. The MLB Draft is continuing forward today, and the Indians have now made their first five selections. Let’s learn a bit more about the latest three selections since second-rounder RHP Mitchell Brown.
At pick No. 110 overall in the third round, the Tribe picked RHP Kieran Lovegrove from Mission Viejo HS (CA). He is 6-foot-4 and was a big favorite of ESPN’s Keith Law, who ranked...
Jimenez was as good as he’s been in a Cleveland uniform, and the offense found it’s triple stroke. A big win for the Indians taking the series opener with Detroit. The pressure is squarely on the Tigers tomorrow.
Bot 1st: Detroit
- M. Cabrera doubled to left, Q. Berry scored
Top 3rd: Cleveland
- A. Cabrera tripled to deep center, S. Choo scored
Before I start, I am not going to lie to you and tell you that I know what kind of a player the Indians are getting in OF Tyler Naquin. I have never seen him play. However, I have done enough reading over the past few days to be aware of his skill set and what he potentially can bring to the table for the organization.
In case you have been living under a rock, you know the Indians...
From the Indians-
“Carlos Santana has been cleared to DH tonight for Lake County. They play Ft Wayne at 7PM tonight in Eastlake.”
Sounds like a good reason to take in a Captains game to me. Santana should be ready to play in Detroit Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

Catcher Carlos Santana returned to the Cleveland Indians' lineup Tuesday night after missing eight games as a result of a concussion sustained May 25. Players who sustain a concussion are now required to be placed on the seven-day disabled list, and Santana was activated on Tuesday. Santa is hitting .245 with five homers and 24 RBIs in 43 games, and the Indians went 2-6 when...
DETROIT (AP) -- Ubaldo Jimenez pitched impressively into the seventh inning and the Cleveland Indians hit three run-scoring triples off rookie Drew Smyly in a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.

DETROIT (AP) -- Cleveland catcher Carlos Santana is back from a concussion and batting cleanup Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers.
Indians manager Manny Acta made Santana his designated hitter, but he says he'll probably be back behind the plate Wednesday night. The 26-year-old Santana was diagnosed with a mild concussion and placed on the 7-day disabled list on May 27...

Santana has been on the disabled list since he suffered a concussion May 25 when a foul tip hit his mask in Chicago.| He took batting practice, ran the bases and worked a bullpen session Sunday without problems. He was scheduled to DH for Class A Lake County...
I’m normally not a big fan of blind Player X/Player Y comparisons. I can’t stand the suspense. In this case, though, I picked the players, so I already know who they are. You already know who one of them is if you read the title of this piece, but let’s pretend it’s still a surprise:
OK, how many of you had this one?
The Indians traveled to Detroit to play the Tigers, a city in which they had lost 23 of their last 26 games. Starting for the Tigers was rookie left-hander Drew Smyly, a guy they had never faced. The Indians entered 4-12 and ranked dead last in the AL in batting average and on-base percentage against left-handed starters. Taking the mound for the...
