Last night Miguel Cabrera got an assist from Cleveland Indians center fielder Michael Bourn. Cabrera really doesn’t need the help, but he will gladly take it when it comes to hitting a home run. After last year’s Triple Crown season Cabrera is off to an even better start this year. It is amazing to see the numbers he is putting up.
Cabrera hit a hard driven ball into center field. Bourn was trying to make a play running all the way back to the warning track. The fly ball bounced off his glove and found its way in the first row of seats for Cabrera’s 13th home run of the season.
On that play Miguel said, “Lucky home run. I take it, especially with a win. Long game.”
This was a crazy game that saw ace pitchers Justin Verlander and Ubaldo Jimenez have an early exit in the game, a 62-minute rain delay in the middle of the fifth inning, and the unique home run.
The game lasted three hours and 33 minutes. The Tigers won the game 11-7 and it will be a game that Cabrera won’t forget and Bourn will try to forget. Luckly for Bourn’s sake it is not like what happened to Jose Canseco’s head home run assist.
