Found June 20, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
The Cleveland Indians could use some good news.  After a hot start followed by a cold streak that may have cost them their season, the Indians need something positive.  And they'll get it in the return of Nick Swisher Saturday.  He is progressing well and expected to return this weekend after missing about a week with a sore shoulder. Nick Swisher scheduled to take BP Friday and play Saturday vs Twins. Has not played since Sat bec of sore L shoulder. #indians — paul hoynes (@hoynsie) June 19, 2013 Swisher was signed by the Indians this past offseason and he has proven to be a nice addition.  The team seems to love him and he's been hitting well enough.  Unfortunately, that has not translated to success for the Indians.  Cleveland is currently 36-35.  They are in second place, but they haven't been able to put together a streak long enough to catch the Detroit Tigers. Blogging for Susie Perhaps Swisher can change that.  He is hitting .237/.337/.402 with seven home runs this season.  He can likely come back and put up numbers closer to his career average which will certainly help the Indians.  Swisher has hit .255/.359/.464 in his 10-year career. Swisher's balky shoulder could prove to be a problem, though, throughout the seasons.  Oftentimes shoulder injuries are more likely to linger than some other injuries.  It will be important for the Indians to monitor this and allow Swisher the appropriate rest so that he does not land on the DL at some point. Long term planners at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario

8-13. 18-4. 4-16. 5-2. There is your Cleveland Indians in numbers, as I stand staring here at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario. They started the season 8-13. During this stretch, the offense was prone to big innings, but not much else. The starting pitching was suspect, but the bullpen was as dangerous as they come. The next phase of baseball was dominant. The starting pitching...

Orbiting Cleveland: The case to acquire Cliff Lee

When it comes to Major League Baseball, there may be no better period than the one ahead. That's right, we are now more than halfway through the month of June, which means July is right around the corner. Of course, that also means that the trade deadline is almost just a month away. For MLB teams, the stakes are high, and there is no more enjoyable time for fans. There's...

AKRON, OH -- The Akron Aeros (34-36) squared the ball up well Wednesday night, totaling 13 hits, but the team failed to score enough runs to overcome the Trenton Thunder (35-35), falling 5-3 at Canal Park. The game featured plenty of offense with Akron and Trenton combining for 25 hits, though both teams failed to actually get many runners across the plate. The problem, according...

Sailing with the Clippers: 6/13/13 - 6/19/13

After splitting a four-game series at Charlotte, the Clippers have lost three in a row to the Pawtucket Red Sox and are in danger of getting swept for the fifth time this season. Twins-Indians Preview

The Cleveland Indians have gotten back on track largely due to their rotation, though Scott Kazmir hasn't provided much help lately. That doesn't bode well for the left-hander against a Minnesota Twins team that has been hot offensively. The Indians look to continue their turnaround with a seventh win in nine games as they open a three-game home series Friday night versus...

Indians 4, Royals 3: Deserve Ain’t Got Nothin’ To Do With It*

8:12 PM – Much like Homer’s epic poetry, I’m making a habit of starting these recaps in medias res. Let us pretend that this is a literary gesture toward gravitas rather than a byproduct of a life that frequently intervenes. Regardless of the cause, I feel that there is some good fortune involved here—good fortune for me, I mean—as I can just copy and paste snippets from...
