When Jason Kipnis singled into center field in the first inning Saturday night manager Terry Francona could almost see him relax from the dugout. "It was like he was back to being Kip again" said Francona. The single ended an 0-for-19 slump by Kipnis and lit the fuse on the Indians 7-2 victory over the Twins in front of 26870 fans at Progressive Field. "I wanted to do Ricky Henderson" said Kipnis after the single. "I wanted to take the base and hold it up over my head." It was a good night for a lot of Indians as they won for the seventh time in the last 10 games behind Zach McAllister's third straight victory. Carlos Santana followed Kipnis' single with a two-run homer off Liam Hendricks (0-2 6.20) that landed deep in the right center field seats despite a strong wind blowing in from center field. It gave the Indians a 2-0 lead and Santana 16 homers for the season. "The ballpark was playing big tonight because of that wind but Carlos just crushed that ball" said Francona. "There were a lot of balls that Michael Bourn caught at the track tonight because of the wind but it didn't matter how much wind was blowing for Carlos." Kipnis followed with a two-run homer of his own in the third for a 4-1 lead. Kipnis and Santana are tied for the team lead with 16 homers each. Then it was Nick Swisher's turn and he hit two-run double in the fifth to help put the game away. When he got to second base Swisher was pumping his fists in joy. It was Nick Swisher give-a-way jersey night at Progressive Field and he wanted to give the fans something to remember.
