In his most recent edition of “Hey Hoynsie!”, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates the Indians may be in the market for outfielders Jason Bay and Melky Cabrera
“Melky Cabrera is an interesting case. I could see Cabrera coming to Cleveland for a year to repair his game and image in one of MLB’s backwater towns.”
“Asked Chris Antonetti about Bay last week at the GM meetings. He didn’t come out and say his name, but I would imagine Bay is on the Tribe’s radar.” [Hoynes/Cleveland Plain Dealer]
Bay hit .165 in only 70 games in 2012 for the Mets, with 8 HR’s and 20 RBI.
Cabrera was a serious canditate for NL MVP before being suspended for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy. Cabrera was second in the NL in hitting at .346, with 11 HR’s, 60 RBI, and 13 SB’s in 113 games for the World Champion San Francisco Giants. Cabrera also won the 2012 All-Star Game MVP.

Indians Rumors: Perez and Smith on the trading block
Jordan Bastian of MLB.com dives into the possibility of the Indians trading some of their top bullpen arms to fill other areas of need throughout the organization.
“Every team tries to deal from an area of strength. For Cleveland, its bullpen — filled with young, controllable arms — has been a bright spot over the past few seasons. It has also been an area the team has drawn...
Report: Melky Cabrera draws interest as free agent
Outfielder Melky Cabrera became persona non grata with the San Francisco Giants after he was suspended in August for a positive drug test, but apparently not every team feels the same way about this year's All-Star Game Most Valuable Player. Cabrera, 28, is now a free agent, and the New York Post reported that at least five teams have expressed interest in his services. The...
Melky Cabrera drawing interest from 5 teams
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that at least 5 teams are interested troubled outfielder Melky Cabrera. Sherman adds that the Mets and Yankees have not expressed interest in Cabrera.
Cabrera who was suspended 50 games for testing for Testosterone, is a unique free agent, as when he was suspended, he was the hottest hitter in the National League. But no one knows how Cabrera...
A Hypothetical Off-Season: Getting Specific with the Indians Roster
I’m sometimes accused of throwing out a generic statement or course of action without getting into the specifics that would allow someone to disagree with me. The Indians should trade for young starting pitching. Well, yeah. They need to move Chris Perez. A little warmer, but that’s still pretty non-specific, no? The seventh inning Hot Dog race is a gambling shammockery...
MLB Rumors: Indians interested in Shane Victorino
According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the Cleveland Indians are one of several teams interested in outfielder Shane Victorino. The Reds, Rangers and Red Sox are also said to have expressed interest in the veteran free agent.
The 31-year-old outfielder is coming off of a disappointing 2012 season — in comparison to the 2009 and 2011 seasons wherein Victorino garnered MVP consideration...
Boras: Indians ownership has to show intentions to win
Shin-Soo Choo has let it be known that he has a desire to win. I think the ownership in Cleveland, foundationally, they’re going to have to illustrate some dynamics with new revenues and where they stand about what they are going do to show their fan base and their players who they are in competing. That’s a new calling that they are going to have to bring forth to give players...
Melky Cabrera Drawing Interest. Really.
Looks like Melky Cabrera still might get a fat paycheck even though he got popped for elevated testosterone levels suggesting PED use. It is being reported that at least five teams have expressed interest in the outfielder. Why? I'm not sure. He still has an incredible arm, but if these teams are going after the Melkman for his bat, chances are they are going to be sorely disappointed...

Mets Are Looking For Help In Outfield, But Not In On Melky
There were a lot of things wrong with the Mets in 2012, but one thing they absolutely have to fix in 2013 is their outfield depth. They have their eyes on some free agents that could help out their team a great deal but are somewhat high risks. Among these people, the picks at the top of the list are Melky Cabrera and Shane Victorino. Both can help the team out a great deal...
