On Sunday the Cleveland Indians announced their opening day roster. In order to get to the final 25-man roster and make room on the 40-man roster, the Indians announced the following transactions:
Right-handed pitcher Frank Herrmann - who had right elbow surgery on March 13th - was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
They re-assigned right-handed pitcher Matt Capps, right-handed pitcher Jerry Gil, right-handed pitcher Diasuke Matsuzaka, catcher Omir Santos, infielder Luis Hernandez, and outfielder Matt Carson to the Triple-A Columbus roster.
They selected the contract of infielder Ryan Raburn and placed him on the 40-man and 25-man roster.
They designated left-handed pitcher David Huff for assignment, and now have ten days to trade, release or outright him to the minors.
With the moves, the 25-man roster is set and the 40-man roster is at 39 players. Here are the players on the 25-man roster (note, 1B/DH Jason Giambi is on the 15-day disabled list to open the season):
