Brandon Inge looks like he's ready to return the majors.

Playing for Class AAA Sacramento on a rehabilitation assignment, the Oakland Athletics third baseman went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs on Saturday night.

"It's just missing time," Inge told the Sacramento Bee. "I don't like missing time. I can't wait to get back in there."

Inge was scheduled was scheduled to fly with the A's to Minnesota on Sunday and come off the disabled list Monday.

He had four homers and 16 RBIs in six games for the A's before hitting the disabled list with a strained groin muscle.

The former Detroit Tigers slugger had a single, two doubles and two homers Saturday, and he was one short of Sacramento's single-game RBI record, set by Cody McKay in 2002 and tied by Dan Johnson in 2004. One of his homers Saturday was a grand slam. Before getting hurt, Inge hit two grand slams in a three-game stretch with Oakland earlier this month.

Inge signed with the A's last month as a free agent after he was released by the Tigers.

"I knew what my role was going to be there," Inge said. "I wasn't very happy with it as far as just playing every once in a while, so there wasn't too much of a shock as far as leaving there.

"Friends and family, that's the one thing (that was difficult about being released)."
