Here's a running list of injury updates around the Major Leagues: – Right handed pitcher Chris Carpenter, who has been injured all season long, will undergo season-ending surgery according to Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. – Padres' Andrew Cashner suffered a strained latissimus dorsi muscle on Tuesday according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The Padres were afraid it could have been the shoulder or elbow, but luckily for them, and Cashner, it was just a strained lat. – Ace Roy Halladay threw his second bullpen session before yesterday's game and could be on track to rejoin the team shortly after the All-Star break Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Zolecki adds that it wouldn't be a surprise to see Halladay back with the team when they play in Los Angeles against the Dodgers (July 16-18). – Second baseman Mark Ellis, who suffered a leg injury back in May, could be activated today according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. – Rays outfielder Matt Joyce will play rehab games today and Thursday with the Rays' Triple-A team according to Joe Smith of the St. Petersburg Times. He'll be re-evaluated after his Thursday game. Image by shgmom56, Barbara Moore under the Creative Commons License Agreement.
