Here's a running list of injury updates around the Major Leagues: – Left handed pitcher Tedd Lilly was scratched from his rehab start yesterday according to Eric Stephen of True Blue L.A. He says that Lilly suffered a setback with his shoulder and that will be shut down for a few days. – The Philadelphia Phillies placed catcher Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day Disabled List with plantar fasciitis in his left foot reports CSNPhilly.com. The veteran catcher is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. – Speedster Emilio Bonifacio was diagnosed with a sprained thumb and Marlins manager, Ozzie Guillen, said he's not expecting him back this season (via Joe Frisaro of MLB.com). “When he was on the ground, I knew something was bad,” Guillen said. “I just saw it right away. Same thumb. Same injury. I don't expect him back this year.” – Left handed pitcher Christian Friedrich will miss the reminder of the season due to a stress fracture on the right side of his lower spine according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. “I kept trying and felt OK through the first 15 pitches — not great, but manageable,” Friedrich said. “What I was actually worried about was sitting down and getting back up, and seeing if it stiffens up. Then Bo [McLaughlin, a Rockies pitching coach] was getting on me because he said I was changing stuff, protecting it.” Image by pastorbuhro under the Creative Commons License Agreement.
