People have though that Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo would be one of biggest names available at the trade deadline. A guy that every contender came calling about but thanks to salary and struggles that interest is dwindling. Teams are now asking about Kyle Lohse who has easily been performing at a level well above his three year, $33 million contract. One rival general manager who talked to the Brewers recently posed this question of Brewers GM Doug Melvin: “How about Kyle Lohse instead of Yovani Gallardo?” As for the answer that seems very much up in the air, that GM was told no on Lohse, but a Brewers-connected person said of Lohse: “We do not have a mandate to move dollars. It has to be a prospect package that works for us — an overpay-type deal.” That sounds like a Lohse trade is more of a possibility. But a second G.M. also said it was suggested to him Milwaukee may hold Lohse, at least until the winter. Owner Mark Attanasio’s decision to go for Lohse surely look...

Gallardo frustrated by his inconsistency this season

MILWAUKEE -- For the vast majority of his first six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Yovani Gallardo has been a model of consistency. The only pattern Gallardo has followed this season has been one of inconsistency. After another shaky start in Thursday afternoon's 10-8 loss to San Diego, Gallardo was puzzled as to why he can't put things together. Coming off an outing...

All eyes will be on Brewers' Yovani Gallardo in afternoon start

With the week the Milwaukee Brewers have been through, salvaging a series split with the San Diego Padres would mean a lot. So would another strong outing from Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo goes for a third straight winning decision Thursday in the finale of this four-game set. After news broke Monday that 2011 NL MVP Ryan Braun would be suspended for the remainder of the season for...

Brewers apologize for threatening to eject fan in 'Ryan Fraud' jersey

Brewers slugger Ryan Braun as we all know is currently serving a 65-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal and that suspension came after Braun's stern and repeated denials of ever using PEDs. All of this has caused not-insubstantial levels of outrage among baseball observers and at least one hometown Brewers fan is none too pleased with Braun's deceptions...

Brewers' Jean Segura leaves game with tight right forearm

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura left Saturday night's game against Colorado with a tight right forearm. Hit by a fastball from Rockies starter Collin McHugh in the top of the fourth inning, Segura grounded out to shortstop to finish the at-bat after home plate umpire Dana DeMuth ruled he swung at the pitch he got hit on. Segura attempted to stay in the game, but Jeff...

Brewers' Segura leaves game with forearm injury

Milwaukee shortstop Jean Segura has left the Brewers' game against the Rockies in the sixth inning, developing tightness in his right forearm two innings after he swung into a pitch that hit him in the same area. Segura swung at an inside offering from Collin McHugh in the fourth inning Saturday night and went down in pain when the pitch hit him on the forearm. A Brewers'...

Milwaukee's Wily Peralta endures rough outing on the road

Wily Peralta was pitching so well in July it was easy to forget he was still a rookie. The rookie struggles returned to the right-hander Friday night, as Peralta allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks in just 3 23 innings in Milwaukee's 8-3 loss in Colorado. Colorado scored three unearned runs off Peralta, and the Rockies certainly didn't hit the ball hard...

Brewers say Ryan Braun merchandise sales have increased since suspension

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has let an entire fan base down in 2013, effectively erasing any remaining hope the team may have had of making the playoffs after admitting to using performance-enhancing drugs and accepting a suspension for the rest of the season. But despite losing an endorsement deal and $3.8 million in salary, [...]

Donovan Hand expected to make next start

Milwaukee Brewers' pitcher Donovan Hand threw lightly on Wednesday, a day after being hit by a pitch on his throwing hand.  Although his hand is sore, Hand expects to make his next start. As reported by Adam McCalvy and Kevin Massoth of MLB.com, "Hand took a third-inning Tyson Ross fastball to his hand while squaring around to bunt Tuesday and departed after throwing...

Brewers fan Karen Eidem asked to remove Ryan Braun ‘Fraud’ shirt by stadium staff

Many Milwaukee Brewers fans are still stunned by Ryan Braun coming out and admitting that he cheated. Braun won an appeal for a positive drug test last year because of an error in the collection process of his urine sample, and many people thought he was out of the woods after that. Now that he [...]

Brewers 7, Rockies 5

The Milwaukee Brewers started fast and then had to endure a slow finish. The wait was worth it. Carlos Gomez had two hits and three of Milwaukee's five stolen bases, Juan Francisco and Jonathan Lucroy homered and the Brewers held on to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-5 on a rainy Saturday night. Milwaukee's Jean Segura had two hits and two RBIs before leaving with tightness...

Pete Rose has some advice for cheaters

Despite being banned from the game for nearly a quarter of a century, Pete Rose continues to be an outspoken figure in the Major League Baseball world. His latest comments come just days after the league decided to hand down a hefty suspension to Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun for his connection to the Biogenesis scandal. Rose, who was banned from baseball in 1989 after being...

Brewers Rumors: Gallardo, Lohse unlikely to be dealt

Teams have been calling the Brewers about their pitchers. The pitchers that have been garnering most of the medias attention are John Axford and Mike Gonzalez, but teams have shown interest in starters Yovani Gallardo and Kyle Lohse, according to reports. While teams are interested, are the Brewers willing to deal them? According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Milwaukee...

Greinke: Braun “willing to use anyone”

Zack Greinke was a former teammate of Ryan Braun during his time in Milwaukee. Now a pitcher on the Los Angeles Dodgers there was no shortage of slams directed at the Brewers outfielder who has been suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season. Greinke called Braun a liar and a user in an interview with the Los Angeles Times: “The main thing is, yeah, he lied to us,” Greinke...

Brewers 3, Padres 1

Kyle Lohse pitched seven strong innings and Carlos Gomez had four hits and drove in two runs to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night. It was the Brewers' first win since left fielder Ryan Braun was suspended Monday for the remainder of the 2013 season for violations of Major League Baseball's drug policy. Lohse (7-7) gave...
