Found May 26, 2012 on Bloody Sox:
Recently I had a chance to do a quick interview with Red Sox prospect Reynaldo Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a 26 year old slugger out of Colombia who is currently playing for the Portland Sea Dogs. He has a powerful bat and was discovered by the Red Sox in an independent league when he was playing for the Yuma Scorpions. In 2009, he was named the Independent Leagues top prospect by Baseball America. He’s currently hitting .258/.348/.546 with 10 home runs, 13 doubles, and two doubles. He currently is a 1st baseman, but can play left field. He is projected by SoxProspects.com to become a major league bench player with improvements with strike zone management and selectiveness. Andrew Rodriguez: You started our your career with the Yankees. How was that experience different from the Red Sox? Reynaldo Rodriguez: I was a star in the Dominican Summer league in 2004, and it is the same for both teams, they just have different systems. Andrew Rodriguez: You sustained a serious injury in 2008. Britain's Cook to appeal Olympic taekwondo snub

British taekwondo star Aaron Cook says he is appealing his omission from the Olympic team. Cook is the world's top-ranked fighter in the 80-kilogram division but was told earlier this month that he would not be fighting for Britain at the London Games. Cook ditched the national taekwondo academy last year to train independently. In a statement released Monday, he says '...

Will Middlebrooks' Absence Looming Large During Lackluster Red Sox Performance

Where's Will Middlebrooks? NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is drawing the line between what he's seeing on the field and what he's not, and a certain young third baseman for the Red Sox isn't there. That might not be the entire reason why the Red Sox look not-so-great on Friday night, but it might be one of them. Check out the above video for more. Join NESN Nation...

Darnell McDonald Discusses Scary Encounter With Ronald McDonald, Reveals Music Interests (Video)

Darnell McDonald has shown a willingness to do whatever's been asked of him since joining the Red Sox, but perhaps no task has been more daunting than answering the hard-hitting questions of some lucky kids on Red Sox Small Talk. OK, maybe it's not that scary, but these are kids we're talking about, and kids don't pull any punches. McDonald revealed some interesting...

Clay Buchholz Hoping to Reward Red Sox Offense With Better Outings Down the Stretch

Clay Buchholz is still trying to work out the kinks. The Red Sox hurler is coming off a shaky outing against the Orioles, where he allowed five runs and six hits through 5 1/3 innings. It was the seventh occasion this season that Buchholz yielded at least five runs in an outing. Through nine starts –– 49 1/3 innings –– Buchholz has allowed 43 earned runs, just two shy of...

Bobby Valentine Facing Tough Decisions When It Comes to Filling Out Red Sox Lineup Card (Video)

The Red Sox lineup has changed a lot this season, due in large part to the number of injuries the team has sustained. Bobby Valentine has needed to get creative at times, most recently when it comes to getting Adrian Gonzalez, Kevin Youkilis and Will Middlebrooks all into Boston's lineup. Much of the flexibility has been the result of guys willing to play a number of roles. Gonzalez...

Scott Podsednik Gets Start in Center Field As Red Sox Close Out Series With Rays

The Red Sox pulled off a dramatic victory on Saturday night as a result of a pinch-hit, walk-off home run from Jarrod Saltalamacchia. They'll look to parlay that into some momentum on Sunday. Scott Podsednik will be inserted into Boston's lineup for the finale. He'll get the start in center field and bat ninth. He'll be joined in the outfielder by Daniel Nava (left...

Third Time's Hopefully the Charm With Red Sox Struggling to Finally Get Above .500 (Video)

Will the third time be the charm for the Red Sox to finally get above .500 this year? They've won 10 of their last 13 games to once again reach their high-water mark of 22-22 this year, and the team will take its third try at getting above .500 against the Rays on Friday night. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is guaranteeing that the Red Sox will exit this series with more wins...

Saltalamacchia comes through in a pinch

BOSTON -- Jarrod Saltalamacchia's pinch-hit home run in the ninth-inning gave him the first walk-off home run of his career and the Red Sox their first walk-off win of the season. It also gave Boston a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park to move it back to .500, at 23-23. Saltalamacchia, pinch-hitting with one out and Daniel Nava on second base, turned on an 0-1...

Red Sox News & Notes - 5/26

The only thing hotter than the Tampa Bay Rays bats against Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester were the tempers of the coaches of both teams in the 9th inning of the 7-4 win by the visitors. After Franklin Morales hit Luke Scott in the 9th on the fourth pitch after throwing one behind him, another for a strike and another inside, Scott tried to make his way to the mound only to...

Red Sox downplay ninth-inning plunking

The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays have packed quite a bit of animosity into their 15-year rivalry, with Friday night providing the latest chapter. Following in the tradition of Gerald Williams vs. Pedro Martinez in 2000 and Coco Crisp vs. James Shields in 2008, Friday night featured another bench-clearer courtesy of Luke Scott and Franklin Morales. With bad blood lingering...
