Found August 02, 2013 on The Fantasy Fix:
Photo Credit: Keith Allison Corey Kluber is a starting pitcher that has a lot of things going for him these days, including a pretty cool sounding name.  But even a name isn’t enough to write extensively about a player, right?  Right.  Good thing he’s also holding his own at the major league level, while at the same time looking like a nice waiver add for many fantasy teams.  However, Kluber is doing more than just holding his own.  In his last six starts, he has pitched 39 innings, posted a 3.00 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP, and struck out 37 batters, while only walking eleven.  That’s quite exceptional.  And dare I say, ace-like? In the final two months of the 2012 season, Corey Kluber found himself in the Cleveland Indian’s rotation.  It didn’t go as planned, as he was smacked around quite a bit.  This season, the right-hander started in the minors, but came back to the majors at the end of April.  Now, almost 115 innings in, he sits with a 3.77 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and a 4.40 K/BB ratio.  ...

A long road of ups and downs for Nick Hagadone

The arms in the bullpen at Huntington Park are used to waiting for a call into the game. One left handed closer in particular has become accustomed to a different type of call, the one from Cleveland, as Nick Hagadone has been recalled to Cleveland four times with a month left in the Clippers season. The trip no longer fazes Hagadone or is family. “It’s very busy being back...

Masterson, Raburn help Indians sweep Sox out of town

Cleveland, OH -- Justin Masterson continued his season-long dominance of Chicago and Ryan Raburn hit two home runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the White Sox, 6-1, to earn a four-game sweep. The sweep was the Tribe's second four-game sweep of the White Sox this season. The Indians have now won eight games in a row and 11 in a row at home, moving them to a season-high 12...

Wendle's strong season has him in the Indians sights

It’s not often that a player can lead a team in batting average, home runs and runs batted in after missing a month of the season, but Carolina Mudcats second baseman Joe Wendle is doing just that. Wendle is currently leading the Mudcats and the Carolina League with a .307 batting average.  His 12 home runs and 47 RBIs are also a team high.  With team highs in all of these categories...

Three-run first propels Clippers past Bisons 3-2

COLUMBUS- The Columbus Clippers defeated the Buffalo Bisons 3-2 Wednesday night by taking advantage of an early lead made in the first inning. Columbus’ pitching staff was what shined Wednesday night though with a win, two holds, and a save to show for it. The Clippers offense came into the first inning hot, jumping on Buffalo starter Chien-Ming Wang. Tim Fedroff led off drawing...

WFNY Stats & Info: Rare accomplishments for Indians starters

With the completion of this week’s four-game sweep over the Chicago White Sox, the Tribe starters have continued their incredibly impressive hot streak. Ever since Carlos Carrasco’s last meltdown on July 6, they’ve been consistently dominant. That’s not news, as I wrote about this previously already. But here are a few more notable facts about what the Indians starters have...

Minor League Report: Lake County Captains

The roster is full of interesting prospects, and with a month to go they are making a push for the playoffs. Just the Facts Lake County (18-20, 41-64) sits in sixth place in the second half standings of the Midwest Leagues Eastern Division. They are 6.5 games out...

Indians 6, White Sox 5(10)

Carlos Santana's leadoff home run in the 10th inning gave the Cleveland Indians their seventh straight win, a 6-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Santana hit a 3-2 pitch from Dylan Axelrod (3-7) into the right field seats for Cleveland's ninth walkoff win of the season. The Cleveland Indians went up against a bad bull tonight in Miami

[Box Score] My buddy Justin (the obnoxious Indians fan) called me this afternoon. I asked him if he was worried about the Indians coming out flat this weekend after being on such a roll – the Indians had won eight in a row entering tonight. Worried? Of course he wasn’t. He told me that Francona won’t allow these guys to lose to a team like Miami. They won’t come out flat...

8/3 Recap: Indians 4 - Marlins 3

Unimportant Roster Moves: In "who's that" news, the Indians traded Spring Training invitee and recent Columbus Clipper, Fernando Nieve to the Oakland Athletics for cash. This is actually a good move as the Indians were never going to use him again, so this way the Indians get something they need (money) and Nieve gets what he wants (to play for a Major League team)...

Indians survive 9th-inning scare, beat Marlins 4-3

MIAMI (AP) -- Michael Bourn had three of Cleveland's six stolen bases and scored three times to help the Indians earn their ninth victory in the past 10 games with a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday night. Jason Kipnis' two-run single broke a 2-all tie in a wild seventh inning, when the Marlins narrowly missed three chances to throw out Indians on the bases. Steals...

Fernandez dominates Tribe with 14 punchouts in blowout

Miami, FL -- Jose Fernandez struck out 14 Indians over eight innings as the Miami Marlins ended the Cleveland Indians' eight-game winning streak with a 10-0 blowout. Fernandez (8-5, 2.54) continued his strong rookie campaign, becoming the first major leaguer to strike out at least 13 in consecutive games since Randy Johnson in 2004. The last rookie to accomplish the...

Indians-Marlins Preview

The Cleveland Indians are on the verge of their longest win streak in five seasons but are heading on the road, where victories haven't been plentiful lately. A matchup with the NL's worst team Friday night would appear to help Cleveland's chances, but the Miami Marlins have played relatively well of late and will have All-Star right-hander Jose Fernandez on the mound...

7/31 Recap: White Sox 5 - Indians 6

Roster Update: The trade deadline is now passed and the Indians participation in the event joined the team today. Marc Rzepczynski is now the team's primary left hander, taking the role that has been normally fulfilled by Rich Hill this season. Hill, however, remains on the team in superfluous fashion while superstar relivier, Vinnie Pestano has been demoted to AAA to make room...
