They play the games for a reason. As I’ve said before I’m a “Petco Park is half full” kind of guy so I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it. The Padres are going to win three games this series against the Phillies. Am I crazy? Not certifiably, I think. But I’ve got a great feeling that we can get over that hump against a team that is not fulfilling much loftier expectations. The Padres are due to win a series and I believe they can against the floundering Phillies. Here are my keys for tonight’s contest back home in San Diego. Petco Park is your friend.As much as we whine about the hitting deficiencies in our home park, if our starters walk batters followed by an error and a single, suddenly the Padres are trailing again. The defense has to improve and the pitchers HAVE to throw strikes. Confidence is king.One major difference since the Padres left San Diego is three very important players (Chase Headley, Yonder Alonso, and Nick Hudley) seemed to have found their stroke.
